Hey yall,

ok, well I need to start working soon and I need some advice on a daycare for .Kayoni.

I used to provide child care for infants in their homes. I worked 7days a week and practically raised these children.

I live in .New .Orleans, for those who don't know, and i'm not sure of what to do about a daycare. There aren't that many after hurricane .Katrina, and I don't want to leave her with somebody I don't know.

The waiting lists for children at 6months is insane!!! I planned on being at work when she turned 6 months. (of course I don't wanna!!) but, I need to. But I don't know where to start.

I wouldn't mind someone watching her, but i'd have to know them. I do know of this woman who started watchin the children I had watched and she's pretty good.

But then it's like I kinda want to bring her to a day care center. The woman, mrs. Elaine, has maybe 10 infant/toddlers that she watches throughout the day. But i'm wondering if that too much for her to handel. As with a day care it's like 1 staff person to 4 children.

Any opinions would help. Because I reeeeallly need to make up my mind soon!!

Sarah

I think the day cafre sounds reasonable.I mean there are more people around ands she'll most likely leearn more that way. I would feel more secure witha daycare than with a woman who already has 10 children to look after.

go with your gut on this one. I chose in home care, but only because I found the most 'grandmotherly' lady who was both strict and clean while providing a safe environment. At one point, I used a daycare where the kids played outside all day! I was a little miffed about it, thinking my daughter wasn't getting the 'care' she deserved - but she loved that daycare more than the other one (she was old enough to talk for both daycares).

Get all the recommendations you can. Go from that. No one knows daycares like moms!

I didn't choose a center because it seemed too clinical, too impersonal. They tend to have a high turnover rate for employees and I didn't like that.

Yea I hear ya. I'm leaning more towards a day care it's just that the waiting list is craaazy!! It's like a one year waiting list. And I definately don't have a year.

Man, I guess i'm gonna have to do more searching!!!
Grrrr...This caca is sooo expensive too!! God I wish my mom didn't work so she could watch her!! Hahahaha

I understand that expense! Maybe the state has a website you can look up daycares with. My state does. You can find out if they've ever had a violation and what they offer, what classes the person has taken, etc. It helped me out a lot when I had 3 days to find a daycare or not take a job.

Good luck!
