Q: Question About This Forum

I'm sorry but I wasn't sure where to put this.

I just want something clarified for me please! This particular board is just titled 'abortion' and I realise that it is different to the 'abortion debate' board because this is where women come if, for example, they are considering an abortion and want advice.

I have noticed that if anyone does anything other than advise the woman that abortion is the best way to go they get shouted at by other posters. So, are you allowed to discuss all the options with someone who is unsure of what to do or not? People keep saying this is an 'abortion support' board - does that mean you can't discuss anything other than abortion as an option?

Many thanks.

it is supposed to be support but some people are just so damn pro abortion that they can only see that as an option but most of them are just immature children who have had no life yet.People like eiri and sandyallen will try and discuss other options but they don't come on too often because of all the arguments.

If someone is confused about their pregnancy then I think all options should be discussed but it just seems that most posts are people who are having or have had an abortion, maybe that's why other options aren't discussed so much?

i can see where you are coming from moo, I was talking about cambion who put three options out there made two of them sound so bad and the last one so good, I am not saying either one is better but I am saying if you are giving advice then at least try to be objective. We could all make a case for our own preferences that make that choice sound better but that is just as bad as telling her she will get cancer if she aborts or die in childbirth. Can you see what I am saying moo.

Yes I understand that. I think if we can't at least try to be objective in this forum then maybe we just shouldn't reply on questions when people are just genuinely confused as to their pregnancy and not sure what they'll do

thank you moo that is why I do not reply because I do not feel that I could be subjective and these people have an hard enough decision without someone trying to influence them their way.

but surely the reason why such women come to this forum is to hear the pros and cons of all options? I'm not talking about those that have already made their decision to have an abortion but those that are unsure.

I think if most women come to an abortion forum then their mind id pretty much made up. As I said those who come and say they have no idea then all options should be discussed but if they ask about abortion then surely the pros and cons of abortion would be sufficient.

If someone wants an abortion, I don't feel that discussing adoption or parenting is very respectful or even prudent.

If I want an abortion, please do notthrow other options at me, and I believe many women fel this way.

I am not talking about those that know what they want but those that are undecided,

this what I am saying they deserve all the options fair and unbiased not what one person thinks of the options or biased information.

Abortion is a very scary subject, and it was nice to have a forum where I could post questions about my decision, and the after effects, and having the pro-choice/pro-life forum separate is an excellent idea. I felt "safe" to ask questions and not be ostracized for it. I felt like I could get an answer to the questions I had without having to defend myself. I do agree that likely most of the people who come here have probably made up their mind, but I am sure there are still plenty who haven't. As far as seeming like other options aren't thrown out there, it seems like many of the women who respond to the posts come here because they have had abortions themselves, and are in a place to give truly subjective advice about the option of abortion. They understand what a woman has been through or may go through, and because in their choices most of the responders chose abortion, that is probably why it doesn't seem that there's a lot of posts about the other options, because the people responding are responding largely based on their own choice. I did however have someone private message me to suggest other options, which didn't bother me.

that's not true; in fact many times, when we advise, we don't push in one direction or another. But if we even mention that abortion is a smart desicion in some cases, we get yelled at that we are advocating the killing of babies.

Just so everyone knows, i'm posting the campaing (ignore stillhere) info on multiple topics to make sure that everyone who would think of replying to her can see it. It'll only work if we cooperate ^_^

she is a detriment to the debate an support forums; and she is not a person that pro-choice wishes to be assosciated with. I swear, we're not all crazy, like her.

I definitely agree that more people come here to debate than to offer support. I don't know what cowboys is snorting or smoking, but I offered very unbiased and fair information to lorrieandkeith about her situation, even though I am pro-choice.

Honestly, I think this board is only supportive of the pro-life decision, because at any time if abortion is even mentioned as a potential option, the attacks start flying.

i won't ever try to persuade someone one way or the other. We need to inform them and let them make the decision for themselves.

Purest green

this is an abortion forum to discuss issues about abortion. It contains as I can see for the most part, much valuable information from those that have had abortions or who work in the medical field.

If someone wants information on adoption, lets give her the credit to be bright enough to know she can keep it, go the adoption route or have an abortion. She will certainly be bright enough to be able to google "adoption forum" I just did and as I suspected, there are many wonderful sites where she can get information on adoption - much more accurate than she can likely get on an abortion forum.

I'm sure it is the same with having her baby - I didn't check but I am sure that she can find pages of information about single motherhood or having her baby and find better information from those that have walked or are walking in her shoes than on an abortion forum.

It has never amazed me how this tactic has always been used to promote other's interests. I came to this forum to discuss abortion - not get in debates about other options.
