Hi everyone! I had a hysterectomy january of 2005. I did not have my ovaries removed. We decided that b/c I was only 29 at the time, he wanted to leave my ovaries in. He said that b/c breast cancer runs so rapidly in our family, that I wouldn't be able to take the hormone pills that are given after an oophorectomy.........And that i'd jut have to go through menopause. That was not an option for me. So, i'm letting my ovaries carry me as long as they can.

Here's the problem i'm having. I still have breast tenderness about 3 days out of every month. Is that b/c i'm still using my own hormones? Are my ovaries causing the breast tenderness. Is this normal? I always associated breast tenderness with my period and assumed that when my period was gone, the tenderness would be also. Has anyone had this problem?

Breat Tenderness After Hysterectomy
When I read your post, I was shocked at how many similarities are b/t you and i. I also had a partial hysterectomy at age 29. I had mine done in january of 2005 also. Breast cancer runs rampid in my family, so I also could not take the hormones. So, we opted to leave my ovaries in. I'm also having severe breast tenderness every month. I can barely even put my bra on. I would worry if it hurt on one, but since they both hurt evenly, i'm not too concerned. Maybe I should be. I had a hysterectomy b/c I had cervical cancer. I haven't been back to the gyn since my 2 week post-op appt. I ran into a problem b/c they kept telling me I had to pay the complete surgery bill (that insurance didn't cover) before they'd see me again. I need to get back in to see them. I would definitely make an appt to have a breast exam done. Even though we're young, we are at high risk of developing breast cancer. I'll go if you go!!!! Lol!

Ok, i've officially lost it! I just realized that I replied to my own question, lol! This is one of the things that happens after a hysterectomy. You lose your mind. No wonder I had so much in common with the other person :d
