Q: Pregnancy And the Depo Shot

I was on the shot for about 9 months, then I stopped. My doctor said that I can't get pregnant for a year. However, i'm feeling movement in my stomach. My nipples aren't sore or anything. But i'm nervous as all hell. I don't want to have another baby just yet. Sad Sad

When was your last period? If it was in the past month there is no way you could feel the baby move. I'm pretty sure most people feel the baby move around 10-12 weeks.

Depo
How long had you stopped the shot before you got these
symptoms?
I didn't get a normal period or even ovulated for more than 6 months
after I stopped the shot.
Have you been into the doc?

With depo shot thats normal to not get a period.

But you can take a pregnancy test just to make sure if you'd like-- the depo shot will not affect the test.

I completely understand that.

When I was deciding what birth control method I wanted to do I read that a lot of women don't have periods while on the depo and that... was just not for me. I'd freak out every month I didn't bleed and if I ever got used to that then I'd probably freak if there was the slightest bit of spotting-- I'd know its normal, but I'm a spaz. Wink

If you think you're pregnant then take a test. You could even take one now and then another later to ease your mind a little more.

Pregnancy and the depo shot
well i only had 1 shot and had my period when i received the shot. i havent had a normal period since that one. I have been trying to get pregnant nonstop. I dont know what my options are. I guess i have to wait for the shot to get out of my system. I asked someone if i can take pills to get me pregnant sooner. But if that would even work it would cost money out of my pocket. No insurance will cover it.

i been feelin like im preg and gained up to 7 pounds so far. and when i eat i am always still hungry , when i use to eat and be sick to my stomache.

Any time you have sex before your next shot is due it's protected sex. So trying to get pregnant within the three months of taking the depo shot is probably not going to work. You'll have to wait until the depo is completely out of your system and you start to have regular periods again.

Your symptoms are all side effects to the depo shot.
