Why? The answer is simple - fetal valproate syndrome depakote is responsible for many birth defects (facial defects, retardation, etc.) go to pubmed.Com and read abstracts on fetal valproate syndrome it is also linked to brain atrophy and valproate-induced parkinsonism.
