Sad
my first time here; my first night as a member - so please bear with me....
First and foremost - we're all adults. We're not supposed to be stupid!
Yes...I know my symptoms need to be checked out by a doctor...But I just need to know if there's someone out there who has experienced my symptoms...

I was "fine" after my hysterectomy. Not "great" - but fine. Did not engage in much sexual activity with my spouse; but I did not experience a deep throbbing pain and bleeding after sexual intercourse.
I've been separated - and entered into a new relationship back in march.
The pain and bleeding started immediately. The pain is quite intense; requiring pain medication (that I already need for my back).
Sometimes the bleeding would last for up to 2 days; but would be immediate following (or during) sexual activity.
I hate to be graphic...But in reality - no...It does not feel as though my partner is "coming into contact" with an obstruction
remember that i've had a total hysterectomy. I'm thinking of all kinds of things right now....
Key note: no pain during urination or bowel movements. No blood in either. Just such a deep deep intense pain and the bleeding.....

Sorry to have "babbled" - but since this is my first post - I wanted to tell you everything.....
Any guidance and/or advice would be immensely appreciated.
Peace and comfort to all,
lori

I was just searching for some advice on the same problem that you are having. I had a hysterectomy last august and just recently I started bleeding after sex and had pain. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow and I will let you know the outcome. Hang in there it has got to get better Smile

Same Problem Here....
This is my first time on here too... And because of the same reason. My hysterectomy was in 1999 at age 34. The pain in my back has been increasing and the pain during and after intercourse is worsening. No bleeding at any time. Sometimes I have such a sharp pain that I feel I cannot take a breath - but it goes away as quickly as it came. I have an appt for this week for a complete physical. Although I had a total hysterectomy I asked about a pap smear. The nurse told me she didn't think it was necessary and I have been searching all morning trying to find if it is or isn't. Call it a gut feeling, but something just doesn't feel right. My question is...Can you get a cancer of the vagina, etc after a complete hysterectomy - and yes, the cervix was removed.

bleeding after years of hysterectomy
I had hysterectomy back in 1993. Was dysplasia pre-cancer which runs rampant in the females on both sides of my family. Don't know if related but ran into same problem two days ago. Bleeding clotted and stopped same evening but any strenuous starts cramping, pain and bleeding once more. No cervix in this one either. All but part of left overy taken as I was only 24. They felt they got all of the cancer but back in 1997 found it beginning again in the vaginal wall lining. Cleared after 8 biopsies. Am concerned it might be related. Original ovarian, uterine cancer starting out. Was endometriosis growing up since 12. Will be making an appt with my primary physician on Monday.

bleeding five years after hysterectomy
Any strenuous activity or bowel movements starts the mentral type cramping, lower back aches, pain in left side radiating around the back, pain near left ovary and a light flow of bleeding that lasts for a little bit then goes away until the next strenuous activity.

I have no cervix no uterus, tubes tied but I do still have both ovaries and they did find a small cyst on my left ovary but the doctor said thats not big enough to cause me this much pain or these kinds of problems.

I have spotted off and on since my hyst 5 years ago but since the doctor put me on birth control pills to shrink my ovarian cyst I have noticed more pain and more bleeding.

This is ridiculous.

I had a hysterectomy a ten years ago, recently I started to bleed bright red when I clean my self, I started to wear pads because it has gotten worse, I am not sure if it is coming from the back or front, I wipe the front after going to the bath room and I have blood but I also wipe in the back and their is blood there too. I would like to know where it is coming from, I get these cramps were my ovaries are at, but I also spend week with out having a valve movement. I get a dense pain in my upper right quadrant of my stomach. do you think this is serious

Response to your blog
I was reading your blog and am dealing with a lot of the same problems and right now scheduled to see a doctor on Jan. 05 because the pain won't go away no matter what they give me or do and this has been on going for almost a year straight, but started about six months after having a full hysterectomy back on April 28, 2009. It's been a rocky road and has become unbearable, but I do suggest you inquire about wheather or not you may have Irriatable Bowel Syndrome due to your bowel problems because I due and that is seriously something that you have to take care of regularly. God knows as soon as I can give you more insight I will. May God bless you sweetie cause I feel your pain.

Bleeding after Hysterectomy
I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago and I bleed every time I have sex with my husband. By the time I get to the doctor, he sees nothing. I don't believe threre should be any blood at all. I worry where it is coming from. I am going to make another appt with my daughter to get to the bottom of this. There has to be reason.

Why she bled for 15 years post hysterectomy
My mother bled for 15 years after her hysterectomy 18 years earlier. We went to the ER on Christmas Day 09 and the doctor said although he saw a little blood from the vagina, he said perhaps her sutures had ruptured, most of the blood was coming from the bladder. She was diagnosed with bladder cancer on the spot after a CAT scan revealed a mass in the bladder and she died 2 days later when she had lost so much blood, she had heart failure. Go get a CAT scan immediately for the bladder, is what I would tell all women bleeding post hysterectomy. I am finding it hard to believe the countless doctors she saw for this never once ordered a CAT scan. Good luck to all of you.

Dear rose74....Welcome to ehealth and thank you for sharing your pain...Yours is a sad but true story of life...Anyone who bleds for any unusual length of time after a Hysterectomy must be checked our....If one doctor will not do it then seek out another....There are far too many things that could go wrong...I recall after I had mine that about 5 months later I noticed blood on the tissue after I urinated...I called the doctor...Actually a OB-GYN...I was in there within 2 days...But this was long ago...Less people and more doctors...Now we must insist on adequate care...It is our life that we are talking about....Once again, I am so sorry....Take care...

Hi nottrusting and welcome to ehealth: I have heard of them nicking the bladder, but this is the first time with the Urethra...I would suggest that you see a Urologist...Someone who specializies in female vaginal repair...Check around...Look for reference...Don't go ahead with the repair work until you are completely satisfied that they are capable to handling this and that you are in good hands....I would not have intercourse until this is taken care of...Good luck and I hope all goes well...Take care...

I am a 36 year old who had a total hystrectomy 6 years ago and now just recently started bleed, noy heavy but enough to worry me because I also have neurofibromotosis. This is a very painfulcondition which causes tumors throughout my body. All together I have over 1000 tumors in my body. The most painful ones are in my back and the one in my brain. I worry that this may be a tumor on my insides somewhere. However I want to know what else can cause this ?Does anybody know what can cause bleeding this long after a hysterectomy? Michelle

Post Hysterectomy bleeding
Had total hysterectomy in 1993, was on hormone therapy after and until 2 years ago and then switched to a lower dose therapy and finally totally off about a year ago...6 months ago I started to spot, also have mild abdominal pain or cramping. I have been to the OBGYN 3 or 4 times and nothing can be found wrong. The last Dr suggested I try a Vaginal hormone because she said without the regular hormones my inside is basically drying out and after taking that for 2-3 months the bleeding finally stopped...I stopped for 2 weeks and it came back, now I am taking it again and hoping that it will stop again.
