I have been taking yasmin for about 4 months now, and I have been getting very depressed. I know you can't take st.Jons wart while on birth control but how about 5htp? I have searched online and I can't find anything about it. If there is any other recomendation on what I could take to help with my depression, I would very much appriciate it.

Birth control can cause depression, and make already depressed people have a worsening of symptoms.

I cannot use the pill because I suffer from depression, although I treat it and feel great, the hormones make it worse.

I use a non hormonal iud for my birth control.I also work for planned parenthood, and a lot of women are now choosing an iud because there are no hormones.

You can switch pills if you want, and maybe try something that will work better with your body.

5 htp will not harm birth control . But prozac, zoloft, or other antidepressants will help a lot more than herbs will.

Talk to your doc about you r depression.
