hi there, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. My problem is a cut right in the very centre of my bottom lip. As much as vasaline and chapsticks help with with the soreness, the cut just won't heal because by talking and eating with the cut right in the middle it just splits open everytime it starts to heal over. Is there any kind of paste substance to use? I really don't want to have to get stitches on my lip! Thanks

in a chap stick there are chemicals that can infect your lips when you have bits of open skin(chapped lips). So put some honey on your lips then without moving our lips as this is important put some vaseline on top. Do this for about 2-5 days in a row to get rid of chapped lips. Only leave on for 10-15 minutes then with a q-tip dip it hot water and in two stokes take off the mixture.

Hope this helps as my friend recommended it!!

I Have the Same Problem Too!
Posted: 02-16-07 12:30pm

Hello I am new, I have the sameproblem too. Last year around may my lips did this. I could actually grab on end of the scab on my lips and peel it off (like you do a stamp). Then it would bleed and scab up in like 1 hr. I had to peel it off b/c I am black and when I get a sore or scar it is darker than my skin. So, that would look gross for me to keep it there and not peel it. Anyway I tried mark kay satinlips,as well as other exfoiliants. They did not work. Well about 1 month later they got netter. Then "it" came back. By this time I was seeing a dermetoligist for moderate acne. Even b 4 I saw him it came back so I can not really say it came from my acne meds (minocycline and differin) I am off now. By the way differin was not working for me. Anyways it went away by the time I went back to him and I ran it past him and he said,'are you sure you didn't get any on your pillow"? Well it went away and now it's back (not as bad as the first but the sores are bleeding and I look like I am on drugs or something. I saw where some one mentioned infection. Infection? Ok now I am scared!! I tell you why. I leave my water bottle around at my other job and I wonder if someone drank from my bottle. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!!! So is it possible that is what happened? I hope not. That would upset me. I am kind of scared. I hope I do not have a disease . Thank you all for listening. You have very helpful information and are very well educated. In fact, you have more information than what my dermetologist have provided. Should I switch? One more question and I will leave you all alone. I would need to go to the derme while my lips are like they are right, so they may take a culture of the sore? Those ofyou using accutane does it work well, and does it really damage your liver or give medical problems?
Again, thank you all for listening,
cr

Hi, I have the same irritating problem. I've also tried every trick in the book to cure it, but nothing seems to help. After some trial and error, I find that gently brushing your lips with a toothbrush to remove the dead skin helps quite a bit. After removing the dead skin, apply a moisturizer such as vitamin E or aloe. You also may want to try using a lip balm specifically for "winter weather" to prevent any further cracking. Good luck!

Hi: I just wanted to reply to "dozza64". I feel for you because those cracks are beggars to heal. BUT there is a product called "Bag Balm". I know the name sounds awful and if you read the directions on the square green tin that it comes in, it says to be applied to cows teats and area. LOL.
Oh well! It works extremely well on irritated, chafed skin anywhere on one's body. It has healed deep cuts in fingers overnight, as well. I can't remember the maker of this stuff but if you Google in "Bag Balm", it's bound to turn up. It has the consistency of Vaseline only even thicker. But, I'm gonna tell you again: "IT WORKS WONDERS!!!". I know quite a few people that have used it and had way better than expected results and that's only overnight!!!
