Ummm when you say cows milk what do you mean? You cannot give a child under 1 actual cows milk because they will throw it up and probably develop an allergy. Not to mention it has almost none of the right vitamins like formula does.
If you mean milk based formula-that is usually what you start the baby on. If they cant tolerate it then you try soy.
Havent you talked to your pediatirician about this?

Vitamin d milk is the best for pregnancy. It takes some getting used to though.

why not just follow everyone elses rules on how to raise your child by the book

sorry not to seem rude but you can give you child homogenized milk under 1 with peditricians consent or if you think your child is ready remeber we are the mothers and by instinct sometimes we know what is right.

My child was on homo at 7 months and took extremely well with it her dr gave the okay on the condition she was doing well no diarrhea/vomitting.

Ohh man...I think that you can give your baby chocolate milk at 6 months and everything will be fine. I'm sure our grandparents were given milk before 1.

It's like ok, go by the book, but don't scald people who coose not too.

I'm not saying i'm gonna give .Oni milk tomorrow, but whenever the dr says it's ok, then i'm sure it'll be fine. I don't think the doctor would suggest something that could actually hurt a child.

"when can I give my baby regular milk?

regular, whole cow's milk should not be given to babies before 12 months of age. This is because of increased risks of iron deficiency anemia and allergies. Skim or low-fat milk should not be given to babies before they are 2 years old because the fat in whole milk is needed for rapid brain growth. "

htt p://www.Med.Umich.Edu/1libr/pa/pa_formula_ hhg.Htm

"why do experts recommend waiting to introduce cow's milk until a baby is 12 months old?

there are several reasons to delay the introduction of cow's milk until your baby reaches his first birthday. Most important, a baby's digestive system can't digest cow's milk proteins. Cow's milk also has too much sodium, potassium, and chloride, which can tax your baby's kidneys.

Even if his system could handle it, cow's milk doesn't have all the vitamins and minerals (especially vitamin e, zinc, and iron) that he needs for growth and development in his first year. Giving a baby cow's milk could even cause iron deficiency and internal bleeding. And it can increase his risk of an allergic reaction.

."

" why should I wait until after 1 year to introduce milk?

One of the main reasons you should wait until after baby is 1 year old to introduce milk as a formula/breast milk replacement is that milk/dairy hinders the absorption of iron in the body. Milk is also much harder for baby to digest than breast milk or infant formula.

Milk by itself does not contain all the nutrients of breast milk or formula and should never be used as a substitute until after 1 year of age."

http://www.Wholesomeba byfood.Com/dairy.Htm#why should i wa it until after 1 year to intro duce milk

as you can see, it is common sense not to give a baby cows milk. So no, chocoalte milk would not be okay.

Lol....Man, you should become a doctor. You seem to know a bunch about babies. My mom is a "research hog too." I bet you skipped those websites that disagreed with "demanding you wait to give cows milk."

i was sooo being fesicious about giving a baby chocolate milk. I bet you could though. Hahahaa. Lighten up boo, it's just a thread.

So how's your angel doing natalia? I'm sooo jealous of his hair!!!!!!

\ your kids is the one who suffers, if you follow the book for eveything he does he will never learn on his own instead its becoming overprotective/anal

i had to write essays for parenting/social sciences, you should read up on maria montessori she actually makes sense!

Im sorry but a kid isnt written paper and maria montessori recongnized that as well she allowed children to develop at their own stage and realized that they performed much better with rules but allowing them to roam free within them.

Anyways im done

Cow's milk is bad, no matter what age. Soy products are not good as well, unless they are fermented soy.

Dairy has been advertised to us and we have been bred to believe it's good for people. This is not true. We do not have the nutritional requirements of bovines. "studies" have been done to show that dairy is good for us. Well, who funds those studies' that the fda touts as proof? Dairy farmers, people with some stake in the industry. Same goes for phamecutical companies. For various sources, use google. Check who pays for the site, however, some is just propaganda for and against. Never believe what someone says if they are paid to say it!

For optimum health, when weaned, children should drink distilled water or no sugar added 100% fruit juices. Adults may drink tea as well.

If you must have "dairy" try rice or almond milks. Almond tastes pretty good!
