Q: Is Lump in my Throat Stress-Related?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 28th, 2006
Doctor Question
Hi! I have this lump in my throat that has just "showed up" each of the past few days after I ate. It is not in the middle of my throat but more to the left side and it does not hurt I can just tell that it is there. It is not hard to breath - just more annoying than anything.

Could this lump be there because I eat so fast because I do not take an "lunch break" - I am all the time answering the phone or trying to do someting for some. Could it be from stress?

You can schedule an appointment with your GP to identify if you really have a lump in your throat, or not. If it is necessary, you may also need to be examined by an ENT-specialist. If the examinations indicate nothing (no cause for your symptoms) then they may be caused by anxiety.
