Q: nerve damage from herniated discs

I will be having an emg done to test how much nerve damage I have from my herniated discs. I was wondering if anybody knew how the precedure goes and how painfull it will be...Also if anyone is in a disabilty claim or trying for it how did the the test benifit you.
