I was told today that my baby is already 4.5 lbs. I am 31 weeks pregnant. Does anyone know if that is big for a baby at that age. And how much more will she gain in the next 10 weeks?

Baby Wieght
That is an average wieght for this point in time. Your baby will be gaining all her weihgt now towards the end. You should know that that is an estimated weight, its not 100%. If your lucky your baby will probably gain about 3 1/2 to 4 lbs.
Good luck, have a healthy and happpy baby.

The doc told me that my baby weighs about 2 1/2 pounds and I am 26 weeks so that sounds about right to me. Don't worry what's the chance of having a 13 pound baby anyway.

A friend of mine just had a ultra sound and her doc told her the baby's weight was high for the age it is and her doc won't tell her why .She asked if she should be concerned and the doc just told her that she would tell her more in Oct when she goes back for another ultra sound. She is 5 months and she has not felt any movement. What does this mean? thanks.

racecar 555: It may mean absolutely nothing....is this your friend's first baby????
If it is, I can tell you that I didn't feel any movements until about the 5 or 6th month, and it was my first.

They say that with the first baby, you really don't feel anything much until quite later on..because basically you don't know what to look for...because you've never felt it before...alot of times a little 'flutter' or wave you may not even feel, or you may think is gas, or your tummy rumbling..etcetc..

And about being a big baby...I will tell you that u/s do NOT give a very accurate estimate of weight.
I was told at 30 weeks that my baby was at 4lbs, then at the later u/s I was told he was 8 lbs...I was getting freaked out because for me..that was a big baby....
Do you know what he turned out to be on delivery?
6 lbs. 11 oz....yes...they were 2 lbs. over what the weight really was...
So I don't give any thought to weight when someone tells me from a u/s.
Also, has your friend been checked for Gestational Diabetes?

Probably nothing is wrong...but if she is overly worried and all consumed with this, then maybe she should call her ob and talk about it...

Susie.
