I saw it on the news too, and I hope it becomes available. This is emergency medecine, and it's a private matter, so it needs to be quickly and anonymously available.

I am kind of wishy-washy on this as I heard that now you must be 18 years or older or have a prescription and I might have mis-understood or dreampt it or that is the way that I feel about it. Parents need to start paying attention to what these pre-teens and young teens are doing and I do reaize that you cannot watch them 24-7 but it is better then having all of these young females walking around pregnant but how many of these young females can afford to pay for them. They need to start doing something about the insurance 1st. My meds cost alot of money a month and a lot of them my insurance will not cover. Some females cannot take this type of medication, what happens if they get sick or if they wait to late and that could lead to more birth deffects and other problems, I mean, look at the vioxx situation and how long they were good for. It is really getting scarry out there!

I am okay with it on the condition the person is over 18 and has the chance to consult with a pharmacist, alot of people wont get it because they are afraid of someone finding out, if it is anonymous that will be awesome.

I've heard that it's become official that emergency contraception is being sold over-the-counter. And i'm freaking thrilled to hear it. When there is an emergency (as indicated in the name of the pill), women don't always have the opportunity to get a prescrpition - their doctor might be away, it could be a long weekend, they may have to wait, or maybe they can't afford an emergency room visit. Then there's also the issue of retarded fundie catholic zealot pharmacists who will refuse women plan b because it's against god's will, or some other b/s.

The availability of plan b over-the-counter will help a lot of women, and my hope in the human race is almost restored. Almost. Now if planned parenthood would start giving out free abortion vouchers, the world would be so much better.

The nice thing about this is that plan b really isn't harmful in any way, shape or form. I bet it's one of the safest over-the-counter pills you can buy. I'm actually going to go buy some myself. I don't see me needing it, on bcp's, but hey, you never, ever know.

i don't think the emergency pills could possibly be too safe since birth controls pills are not too safe (higher risk for blood clots, strokes etc..) but for use as one in a blue moon wouldn't be problem. They should definetly not be used as a primary contraception way. I think it's good idea as over the counter, hope it reduces abortion rates.

in .England it is over the counter and free.So diamondsz you are pro choice to a point eh, pro choice as long as they are over 18, so what about the 16 year old whos contraception fails should she not have the same right to help as the 18 year old.

yeah, higher risk as like, eating fatty foods. You make it sound like every single woman on birth control is going to keel over!! And the "high risk" in those cases come from - I believe - long-term use. .N.O.T a one-time dose equal to two birth control pills. That is piddly. As a once in a blue-moon thing, yes, it should be totally fine. I also hope it reduces abortion rates. But we won't know for several years; up to a decade, if this is working. Of course it should never be a primary form of birth control... But i'd rather see girls using plan b as a primary form instead of abortion.

it costs £22 to get it over the counter from a pharmacist without a prescription and not all pharmacists are willing to give it to you without a prescription. Birth control pills are free to all women although you need a prescription for them.

Yup, pleased that it's available over here over the counter but if a pharmasist has ethical problems with the map then they can refuse - theoretically they should point you in the direction of another pharmasist who doesn't object to it.

in .England it is over the counter and free.So diamondsz you are pro choice to a point eh, pro choice as long as they are over 18, so what about the 16 year old whos contraception fails should she not have the same right to help as the 18 year old.

i am pro choice, if a teen thinks shes pregnant everyday and takes that pill all the time she may cause bodily harm to herself from abuse of a drug and that is why I think they should see a dr first or planned parenthood. What if the teen took so many pills she cant have kids when she is older yes she did it to herself but it could have been dealt with.

If my daughter ever needed the morning after pill I would get it for her but would not let her abuse it thats why their birth control pills, which for some reason oh never wont go there.

if you needed the map over here you have to give your name so they can keep track of how many you have just in case. You cannot get it for someone else has they make you take one in front of them, because of people selling it.

if you buy it over the counter you don't need to give a name, i've bought it once (in superdrug) and it was £25 but I didn't have to give a name or anything

I think it would be agreat to have an extra one on hand in case of a long weekend it beets paying the er tab here and if you chose to give your daughter one it is between your daughter and you, not the state or government.
