Q: Gout Treated With Celibrex?

I had my first "gout" attack a few years ago now. The first time I went to the doctor and was sent to a foot and ankle specialist. He concluded it was gout. First thing they put me on was indomethicin. That worked great and the gout cleared up fast. Next gout attack (6 months later) indomethicin didn't work at all, so then they gave me a bag full of celebrix. I'm having an attack now, and the celebrix doesn't seem to be doing much anymore, been taking painkillers to help may it through work. The colcichine stuff didn't help me at all, just liquified everything I ate :(

i've yet to see anyone mention celebrix as far as treatments go, do I have a bad doctor?

Celebrex is not as reliable as indomethacin and colchicine for treatment of gout attacks. For example, celebrex was, and likely still is, not licensed to treat gout attacks in uk. Rx lomotil can prevent diarrhea caused by colchicine.

I suggest that you see a rheumatologist for your gout. In the meantime you may like to read "emergency gout treatments" in http://www.Icuredmygout.Org . Take care.
