Panic Attacks, Sleep Apnoea And a Bung Shoulder. :(
Posted: 08-23-06 08:13am

For as long as I can remember, i've never been able to simply fall asleep. My mind always used to play events over and over. I tried valarian - which worked somewhat -, passiflora - which didnt - and even the otc antihistamine based sleep aides.

So I ended up getting into a routine where I would simply stay awake, until I was so exhausted that i'd crash. Not good, I know... Id be awake, some times, for 4 days.

But the past few months, I have developed sleep apnoea, where I cannot sleep on my back without being shocked into waking up when I cant breathe. So I tend to lie now, on my sides to fall asleep.

However, I have no developed a severe shoulder problem meaning I can only sleep on one side, and am constantly waking up feeling uncomfortable.

I say constantly waking up, I mean if I go to bed at 10pm, I lie there until at the very least 3am, and then if I perhaps doze off, I am awake at just after 3am.

The past few months have been pure hell, when I try to sleep.

Now I find that not only do I have these problems, but there are times I will doze off, but suddenly be awoken by a strange sensation rushing thru my body to the point my heart starts racing. At first I thought I was having some sort of heart dilemma, but deep breathing causes it to ease. Howeverm the adrenaline now rushing thru my body makes in entirely impossible to try and fall back to sleep.

Im at my witts end.

I am back to staying awake for days, and use alcohol in order to force myself to pass out.

Does anyone else have a similar experience, or any advice.

Cheers all..
