Q: Husband Just Diagnosed- I Need Some Info.

Hello, I am new to this forum. My husband had some blood work done last week and had to go in yesterday for results. They told him he had hepatitis. But after talking with the specialist he explained that he has to have another blood test done to see if he really has it or if it has left his body. What does this mean? I know nothing about this disease and of course we have questions now. I guess my husband knew back in the 70's that he had it but was under the understanding that it was no longer present. Now he's worried about this. He doesn't do well with doctors. I guess if it's still present then they are going to do a liver biopsy. How do they do this procedure? Do you stay overnight in the hospital? I anyone can give me some information on this I would really appreciate it.
Thank you. Confused

My husband was just diagnosed too about 2 months ago after a routine physical blood test.

He will get the results from the second blood test from the specialist, tomorrow to see what genotype he has. Then after that is the liver biopsy. I'm pretty sure it's an out-patient procedure and you don't have to stay in the hospital.

I'll let you know when I find out more.

My husband found out yesterday he has genotype 1 and the Dr. Said his counts were high. He is going to get a liver biopsy soon to see how much damage there is. We will have the results on august 4th.

My husband had his liver biopsy on june 30th. He had a reaction that about 1 in 100 people get. They hit his vagal nerve and he ended up staying there a few hours longer because he became disoriented and almost fainted.

The did not give him anything before the procedure to relieve anxiety.

He said his lower legs have been aching ever since the procedure and was up all night last night because of the pain in his legs.

He'll be okay, but he's still sore where they poked him.

My husband got back his biopsy results and his liver damage was not bad at all. Beginning stage 1. He doesn't have to go on the interferon and ribvarin at this time!! Yay! :d

i just had my liver biosphy a few weeks ago and found out I am in stage for fibrosis which is cirrhosis. In your statement I read (myself am in 4th stage cirrohsis 6 is bite the bullit) and I was wondering if you could help me understand this. Where can I find this info about the stages of cirrhosis? I am trying to graasp this as well as understand this. I found out I had hepc when trying to be tested for a match for bone marrow transplant for my son in 1999. In 2000 I did the riba-viral meds, and my viral load was undetectable.........But it came back pretty strong :( and I now have cirrohisis......Which I am going back on this new medication and am far from giving up the fight! I won once and will again ........With god's help.........:)
i would like some info on the stages of cirrohsis once it has advanced to that point.
Ty! (i am new here, hope I replied correct!) :?
