High Platelet Count
Posted: 01-21-04 06:27am

What would make mine 534 count? I've been trying to research the internet for information, but i'm not quite sure if i'm asking the right questions! I have alot of different kinds of cancer through out my family. On both sides. (moms- dads). Also, history of migranes, also, heavy in my family. Heart problems, also both sides (again). I also checked some of the symptoms, online, I could have a couple of them, but i'm not sure. Thanx, jeanette

Please See a Doctor!!

Having a platelet count of 534 puts you at risk of having blood clots. You could also be at risk for bleeding because your platelets may not clot correctly. This could be due to any number of things including malignancy, as you mentioned, or something as simple as arthritis. Have you had any injury to your spleen recently (like a car accident)? Please go see your doctor for treatment. Normal platelet counts are between 150-450, so you're not exceedingly high. I've seen people up to 1,000. Anyhow, if you are concerned you should see a doctor to alleviate any fears. I hope this helps you.
