Gout
I have a condition called pre gout, & my dr told me to stop eating any acidic foods, drinks, sauces like tomato, pineapples, lemons, oranges & their juices, vinegar, many sauces can have these ingredients without your knowledge.

So I would suggest that your husband try to alter his diet & not eat any acidic foods, if he is at all overweight; heavy carbohydrates should be strictly limited - so reduce potatoes, breads, cakes, biscuits etc this should help lower his cholesterol as well.

The dr my daughter sees is a psychiatrist who looks after you like a whole person, so I suspect that he would want you & your husband to have 750ml of perrier water (or similar) to replace the salt & potassium you lose in the heat.

If you want more information pm me.
