Q: When Will I Start Losing Pounds?

I joined my local gym in january and went off and on, but about 3 weeks ago I started going every other day. Sometimes I go a few days in a row and skip a day and so forth. I have been doing about an hour of cardio each day. Since I am beginning I only do about a 400-500 calorie work out. I have been drinking only water, except my couple of cups of coffee in the morning. I never ate alot, but I am eating healthier. I lost an inch off my waist and an inch off each thigh, but I have gained 2 pounds. I know that these pounds could be muscle, but I am wondering how long it is going to take for the scale to show a difference.

I can't give you an exact answer because it is different for every person. I've seen people work out for 5-6 months and not lose anything but most do lose inches and tone up. The thing to focus on is that you are toning up and losing inches though. Your weight may not go down a ton but you could look like a whole different person and be very fit and slim. Are you doing enough cardio then? With 400-500 cal workouts it sounds like it but that's whats going to make a difference with your weight eventually.

I'm not sure if this will help but I can tell you that I have two friends who are both 130 pounds and the same height. One is a couple pounds overweight and does not eat right and the other is like a size 2 and very fit. She looks like she would be about 105 pounds but she has so much muscle and she's so toned from sports that she weighs more. So maybe that will make you feel better.

Keep up the good work though! As long as you are losing inches that is great and eventually the weight may just start falling off

Extremely eHealthy
Sometimes when you workout you can gain muscle, gaining muscle is gaining weight, when you skip a few daays it does mess things up, you do need to keep it up then you will start to lose pounds and inches.
Good luck!

Everyone is different. But you usually gain muscle first, so u might actually find that u gain weight, but once u keep going you'll loose the flubber hehe. It just takes time, weight loss and fast dont go together. But keep it up with a well balanced diet ( which can be tricky) but I lost soo much weight just keeping fit and going on "the zone" diet so good luck hun!!
