Hi, im 20 years old and for the last few year my breath has smelled like feces. Im in good health, athletic, brush my teeth and floss, scrape my toungue ive tried everything. I also have never had my tonsils taken out. When I was younger I used to go tonsilitis and the doctor said if I get it again my tonsils would have to come out but it never came back. In anycase its hard for me to talk to people because of my bad breath. I think the cause is do to post nasal drip I cannot seem to find any other cause. I have a deviated septum according to my allergist and im wondering if this is part of the problem. I am constantly blowing my nose sneezing, and have trouble breathing through my nose because it is always stuffy and I always have mucus in my throat I can always feel it but it will never go away so im contantly coughing up mucus. I am just wondering what I can do to get rid of it

I had this problem for about 7 year's...Got worse with time. I did everything dr's, had teeth cleaned and checked. They could find nothing. I started spending all kind's of money on breath product's. I ended up with oral thrush because of them>> Thank Goodness. Started taking 500mgs of dyflucan and boy did the smell get worse. Kill Off!! I changed dr's snd she did a scope>>I had yeast overgrowth everywhere. I was on dyflucan and nyostatin for about 6 week's it helped but still had smell not as strong but still there. I started reading posting and found 5000mgs of vitamin c would help get rid of it so I took it for 2 week's. It worked>>The smell was awful for about 6 day's it was even coming from my body. I am fine now!! This was the worst thing that has ever happend to me!!!!!!!! People are so mean! I hope this will help someone. I also take now take culturelle probiotic's and a multi vitamin everyday.

Dearest One,
I am so sorry you are having this experience. I promise you it will change with patience and the right action on your part. Do not worry, just stay with it, and be around people who love you in a meantime. Do things you enjoy and that bring you enjoyment when you are alone. This type of smell is a variety of issues. First of all you must be careful of your diet. Eat an alkaline diet with many vegetables and very little white sugar. Honey is okay. The primary issue is that your chi has become toxic. You need to move your chi. Meditation is wonderful for this. Practicing Vipassana meditation, which is observing your bodily sensations in silence without tensing up or interfering, allows your chi to move of its own accord. This is vital - sitting in silent presence for 15-45 minutes per day. Also, being in nature, walking, jogging, or swimming. Water is very good for moving chi. So changing your diet, being in water, and meditation. Doing some simple yoga would help as well. Doing these simple things will change this situation over time. Do not fret. You will heal. Blessing to you.

Bad breath could be a gastric issue, relative to stomach acids and digestion. Have you consulted your GP about this?

What you say might be true. A herniation between the esophagus and the stomach might leave open the canal and gases from the intestines can pass by freely finding their exit through the mouth and nose.

This herniation might be caused by several reasons, like crying hard when you were a baby, vomiting after getting drunk or because illness, etc.

A CT scan performed by a specialist might reveal the herniation In case this is the condition, then surgery is the only option because years of treatment with Protonix will prevent damage to the esophagus but won't allow the proper closing of the junction between the esophagus and the stomach.

In many cases, the continued flowing up of the stomach acids to the mouth because this herniation is the cause of dental diseases, and won't be rare to have bad breath caused by the combination of this herniation in conjunction with dental problems.

Bad breath
I had the same problem and was told to try Hydrogen Peroxide 3% as a mouth wash. It is fantastic, it is not recommended for long term use but you wont need to use it long term, I used it for a few weeks and found my bad breath completely gone, I am not using it at the moment as my breath is fresh. Obviously, if the bad breath comes back I will use it again for a short while! You have to make sure it is 3% and you have to water that down also. Hope it works, I can sympathise with you both, bad breath held me back for years.

Bad breath
My hubby had bad breath and he supposedly had healthy gums and teeth. The problem was that a tooth he had work on (root canal and crown) was not done well and bacteria was building underneath the tooth. After he had the tooth redone, it was like magic and his breath returned to normal.

In my own experience, I have recently been experience upset stomach issues as well as as bad taste in my mouth like feces. I breathe into my hands but I don't smell it. Now I am worried b/c I am not sure if something wrong with my digestive system.

I can completely sympathize with you guys. I have suffered with bad breath for 29 years and it has held me back socially and professionally. People can be so cruel when you have this affliction. Most people cover their noses, grimace, walk away when I speak. My breath smells like feces and seems to be emanating from my throat. No matter what products I use, nothing seems to work. My doctor assumed I had a sinus infection and put me on antibiotics for 10 days and it still didn't work!

I posted this reply but want to make sure you get it so I copied and pasted it to you.
I did a couple of gallbladder cleanses. also i slather my floss with toothpaste and that helped. it didn't go away overnight after the cleanses but after suffering with it for years it gradually went away. watch your diet. fatty stuff, sweets, processed stuff, mayo, eggs, all contribute to gallbladder issues. eat lots of apples, apple juices (room temp, raw organic) olive oil, lemons. Anything with pectin helps your gallbladder work. the olive oil softens the stones and the lemons get it contracting. please be careful and read everything you can about it. wouldn't want to be the reason you have an attack because of a huge stone stuck in the back or something and then the doctors will remove your gallbladder which I've read has been suspected of leading to other problems like diabetes (my mom had her gallbladder removed and also became a diabetic so I don't completely discount what I read). Good luck and prayers for you. it is extremely depressing to have to deal with this particular issue.

!**@! breath
i believe it is the food that you eat. i have had bad breath for years. me too, alot of times, when i speak around groups of people, people have asked 'who farted'... embarrasing. but i have learned that if you eat lots of really green vegetables, such as salads with spinach, and avoid stuff like soda pop, meat and pastas, it greatly diminishes the bad smell. i think that these foods do not digest completely in our digestive systems and they remain there, almost fully intact, giving out extremely bad odors that have no where else to exit but thru our trachea.

same with me. i know for my case it is a lack of hygeine. i brush everyday but i do not floss. i go long gaps without going to the dentist because i am terrified and this has caused be to be ashamed now that my oral hygeine is not the greatest. i had a bad experience when i was a kid at the dentist. i was getting a tooth extracted and so being a kid i started crying loudly. the dentist shook me really hard and told me to calm down because i am scaring all the other kids. i did not tell my mom because i thought she was going to be mad at the dentist and i did not want to cause any trouble. i have to get over this fear as i am 27 years now with bad breath. LOL

Stercoraceous breath
There's a cool remedy for breath that smells like poop. I haven't tried it personally, but I've read about it. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it. It is distilled essence of acorns. It is sold under the latin name, Quercus Glandium Spiritus, by Boiron pharmacy. You take 10 drops mixed in a few ounces of water, tea or juice three times a day. It cleanses the spleen. In a week your breath will be normal. You don't have to keep taking the medicine.

Use chlorohexidine gluconate rinse. This prob is caused by gingivitis and sometimes bowel obstructions if ur breath smells like feces. Other types of odors have different causes. Also avoid a lot of sugar as this intensifies the prob. Brush frequently but dont over brush as that can cause adverse effects. Ps even bread turns to sugar so dnt let food sit to turn to plaque!

If you have a white film on your tongue the problem is anaerobic bacteria. Keep your tongue off the roof of your mouth. It creates the oxygen deficient environment these bacteria need to grow. Buy a tongue scraper to remove your current buildup. You might also buy a night guard used for people who grind their teeth. This will keep your jaw open more at night & discourage you from placing your tongue up there. Its a habit commonly formed by people with overbites. The overbite allows you to close your jaw further than most, putting the roof of your mouth in easy reach of the tongue.

Its a hard habit to break. Good luck, poop breath.

tonsil stones
This is what I was about to post! I've been pushing whiteballs out of my tonsils for almost a year now. I Googled them. And they are tonsil stones. Which are calcium build up. If you pop them they smell like crap. Thank god my breath doesn't smell. But maybe mine don't pop in my mouth? Who knows. But ask your doctor about them! Or Google it

If the antibiotics don't work it cud be a mycoplasmic infection. Very contagious . Ask fort a zpak. Its hard to convince docs since to them this is very hard to proovr. Lung or sinus infection can begin to affect heart stomach intestines etc. Even brain. Makes it easier for other infection to make home and settle in. Good luck

bad breath
i have the same problem. I've noticed different food affects the way it smells e.g. sugary foods smell like a fart, diary smell like baby's poo.
Also it changes when i occasionally drink or smoke.
depend on my bowel movement the longer the poo is still there the more my breath smell like a sewer almost. This problem is highly embarrassing as i keep seeking advice/help from my doctors i just sent a poo sample off to get tested to see if they can find anything if not I'll have to find another way of coping with this situation.
If i get help in any way i will post back and for anyone who has got a break through it would be really useful to share Smile
