I Feel the Same Way!
Hiya there I am kay and i'm almost 42, I know how you feel, I have cramps at times, I wonder if the estrogen is doing any good. I do have a small sex drive though, I have a solution for that though, you mentioned that you had none at all, try having sex with yourself, ( if you know what I mean) I hope you feel better soon, taking short walks helps sleep and makes your legs not cramp as much. Good luck hun.

The problems might not be from the hystorectomy
I have been having problems from the very start of menopause, which stemmed from the estrodial, even though I wasn't aware of it. I was taking Activella, which is soy based, and I have found that soy is NOT good for us, it takes out the thyroid, and estrogen can as well. My Dr. tested me for low thyroid several times, and I was told that it was normal - I have found that both soy and estrogen can inhibit the thyroid receptors, which is why the tests came back normal as the thyroid was putting out, but my body isn't receiving the T3. Maybe you should look into bio-identical hormones as a remedy or check into estrogen dominance problems. Good luck and God bless.

Hi traceyhawk and welcome to ehealth...Honey, how old are you and what has been your problems? A Hysterectomy should not be given just to cure the pains of life, but only for a serious medical problem...

I am heading out now but will be back in a couple of hours...You can also PM me...

Regards,
Caroline

? on hystorectomies
I had a partial hystorectomy in march 2007, they only removed the uterus. Then may 2008 they had to go in a remove my ovaries also. I hate the thought of taking hormones. It scares me to death. I have heard so many stories of women getting cancer after being on them. i have gained 30 pounds since the surgery and it is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any advice for me?

I had my full Hysterectomy at age 47...In one day I was emptied of all my womanly parts...I was warned if I took Premarin that it could possibly cause cancer...But I figured I could walk across the street and be hit by a car...I figured that I have no assurance of living nor dying...If I lived with "What if's" all my life I may as well live in a egg shell...I will be 72....Horny as heck with a husband that smiles all the time...This is either from the hormones or the thought of the hormone and what it may have done for me...This thought I transferred to my brain back at age of 47...This way I never let him nor myself down as far as our sexual life...I found all the women in me as you have in you....Three years ago I started on Estring...This is a disc that is inserted vaginally every three months to feed me the hormone estrogen...They stopped the Premarin...Actually could have done this long ago...It is fantastic...At the time my vagina was thinning from too much sex....Now it is plump and juicy as youth....Go figure...

As for gaining weight, we can do this or not...Can't blame this on anything but ourselves....As for me I live in hog heaven...Happy and insert my Estring every three months...I just plain don't worry about what could be....Heck, a piece of that space junk could fall out of the sky and kill me at anytime...Could fall right through my roof...

These are just my thoughts, but it is how I approach life...

Take care,
Caroline

my question to you is,
i have had a hystorectomy in 2007 and they only left my right ovary . i dont have to take any estrogen or anything. i have gained about 40 lbs and now i was told by my gastro dr. that i have a cyst on my right ovary. can this also be the trouble of my hormone imbalance? since the cyst is attacheched to my only ovary?

I doubt it seeing they took one to start...Honey, the weight gain is us...Surgery or hysterectomy has absolutely nothing to do with it...It is we women that have to push the plate away when we have had enough...I know...Been there and done that....Good luck...

Wow, I just log onto this site to get the correct spelling of Hysterectomy, and started to read ... I had mine in 2003 at age 36, everything is gone. I choose not to go on any hormones, I take nothing, I have normal sex drive, No pains, no cramps, no nothing.. Yes I gained weight but I love to eat out and do not exercise, I had surgery was cut open left to right the old fashion way, I thank the Doctor for going in that way where she could see what she was doing, my mom had it done the "new" way and has nothing but problems now.

I have heard this more than once..I had mine the old way too...Mine was from navel to split of my crotch...Hurt healing, but everything vaginal was not messed around with...If I had to do it again I would go the same way...They took all out of me too..If you ever get dry during sex, get some ESTRING...This is a circular disc that you insert vaginally every three months...Gives out Estroil daily...Makes your juicy and hot to trot...I have never had a problem sexually since mine was done either...I guess not knowing this was supposed to happen, it didn't...So I just continued being me....

Thanks for your information...Another woman may find it very helpful...

Take care,
Caroline

Hi ladies...
Had a partial hysterectomy to remove grapefruit sized fibroids and a hugely swollen uterus (abdominal due to appalling scar tissue from second cesarian 14 years ago) on 09.09.09... now recovering but dont feel myself at all and dont know if this is normal.
Cant get to sleep until 4.30am it's soo weird, and obviously that then throws the body and soul out for the next day. Am trying to stay very calm and unstressed but with a busy restaurant and family who have never had Mum down for more than a few days at a time, its hardto stay detached and look after me over everyone else.
My boobs seem to have gone all soft and not exercising has definitely brought out the flabby bits.. and I reduce to tears (streaming) easily, which is not like me. My appetite is down ( I normally eat very healthily )and I'm also thirsty all the time. Not due to go back to the surgeon till the end of the month for a post-op check and I wondered if you any hints for me.....is this "normal" and will I get over the urge to throttle my nearest and dearest?
Thanks ladies
B
