to Take the Test... Or Not!?! Posted: 08-21-06 14:34pm
Hello everyone! I'll start out by
telling you all a little about me... And
then i'll explain my situation in hope for
some badly needed advice. My name is
teresa, I am 20 years old, I am married,
and my husband and I have a one year old
son together. Okay, I have some female
proplems which the doctors have told me
would make it difficult to become pregnant
(which is a good thing at the moment
because my husband and I don't want
anymore yet.). Those proplems are, cysts
on my ovaries (which burst and then come
back), and a tilted uterus. My uterus
was tilted when I became pregnant with my
son... But the cysts didn't occur until
after giving birth. Well... Here is my
situation... My period was due around
the 12th of august and I haven't had any
signs of it thus far. My husband and I
use a condom most of the time, but there
are occasions when we are out of condoms
and we use the "pull out" method. Now,
seeing as how my doctor told me that it
would be difficult to become pregnant, we
didn't worry about pregnancy very much.
Okay, now this is the part that confuses
me on if I could be pregnant or if there
is something wrong with my cervix....
The last time my husband and I had sex,
after we were finished (we used a condom
by the way) I felt really sore down there.
Not sore like raw but just a pain around
my cervix. So, I felt inside of my
vaginia to see if I could feel anything
that could be causing the pain. I
totally freaked out when I couldn't feel
my cervix!! I know all about those kind
of things because my husband is in his
last year of nursing school. So, I
called my husband into the room and had
him feel for my cervix. It took him a
few seconds to find it and it was "pushed
back and under". It's really hard to
explain... But my husband said that it
isn't where it's suppose to be at all. I
am going to make a doctors apointment to
have this checked out but I don't want the
doctors to run pregnancy tests and suprise
us with a "well your pregnant." I bought a
pregnancy test (e.P.T) but I haven't taken
it yet. I don't want it to be a false
neg. (because I took it to soon) and I
most certainly don't want it to be
positive. I'm just afraid! Now, my
question to all of you is... 1. Have
any of you had this happen with your
cervix? 2. Do you think that it is too
early to take the pregnancy test? Sorry
this was so long and confusing! Advice
and opinions would be great! Thanks in
advance guys!

Your husband is in nursing school? He
should know that since it is over a week
since your period was due, a pregnancy
test should show positive.
He should also be quite aware that a
tilted uterus is not going to prevent
pregnancy - even coupled with cysts! You
still need to use birth control - the pull
out method is not birth control. It is
merely putting off the inevitable.
Take a test. False negatives happen when
you haven't missed your period.
Your cervix is more than likely off kilter
because you have a tilted uterus.

Yes, my husband is in his last year of
nursing school to become an rn. We
realize that having a tilted uterus and
the cysts do not mean that pregnancy is
impossible but... Our doctor told us that
is would make it difficult to get
pregnant. I know that I need to be on
birth control. I was taking the mini pill
for breatfeeding mothers but when I
stopped breatfeeding I stopped taking the
pill. I'v put off going back to the
doctor to start a new pill... But after
this I am diff. Going! Lol! I was
thinking that my cervix could be like it
is now due to the tilted uterus... But it
has never been this way before. Maybe
it's possible that my uterus has "tilted"
even more?? Thank you so much for the
advice... It's nice to have someone to
talk to about this! I will take the test
first thing in the morning... That is the
best time right? Thanks again!

yeah... Don't listen to any doctor who
tells you how difficult it would be to get
pregnant. You could try an iud if you
don't plan on having a child for a few
years. Excellent protection from
pregnancy and the added plus that you
never, ever have to think about it!!

If you take the test first thing in the
morning you should get accurate results
because first morning urine carries the
most hcg

I'v thought about an iud... But I don't
know much about it and i'v never looked
into it. Care to explain it to me? The
only birth control i'v ever tried is the
pill... And I got pregnant with my son on
the pill (ovon35)!

Carifairy is more knowledgeable than I am
on the subject of birth control. She is
on the birth control board
