3 months ago I had my left highheel get
caught in the cuff of my right pant leg.
I then fell to the left and landed on some
stairs. I ended up ripping my pants
where i fell I went down so hard. I still
have a scar on my tibial tuberosity. It
swelled up really quick, but i could
physically still move it, but with pain.
I don't think anything popped out at the
time. After a month I went to a doctor,
he x-rayed it and said nothing was broken
but wanted to see me a month from then to
see if I needed an MRI. Only thing was, I
was in DC for an internship and was only
in town one more week after the office
visit. Now I still have some pain. If I
am going to be on my knees for an extended
period of time (i.e. yoga, or weeding) I
have to have a folded up blanket or pillow
under my knees. It still makes popping
noises. It mostly hurts in the fleshy
part above my patella and it will
sometimes spasm in that area. sometimes
it hurts on the interior portion and
sometimes below the patella. At the
original doctors visit he said it might be
synovitis, but he wasn't sure if i tore
anything or not. Could someone please
help me figure out what exactly I did to
my knee and what I can do to make it
better. It isn't a massive problem, but
if I walk around on it for very much (say
more than a mile) it hurts as well. And
it sometimes hurts when I am just sitting
stationary. Any help is much
appreiciated. Thank you very much.
You may be experiencing synovitis but you
must first exclude possible injuries to
the knee’s ligaments or menisci. An MRI
is an imagining method that can aid
doctors in diagnosing the cause of your
pain. The specialist to visit is an
orthopedist who can examine the knee and
make further treatment suggestions.
