Oh yes, I remember now. Ruffles, hahahah, man that was a good one. So wait, you were eating mashed potatoes this whole time? Not good, that was likely keeping you sick if that's the case. That's why you had a sudden crash. I was on a similar diet for about 4-5 months and never got better than that on it. But you are correct, it's likely both those things. One, you're eating frequently enough, but not too much, so you catch the drop before it gets too bad. Once you even out a bit and start to adjust more, you may notice you get a little goofy here and there, but it shouldn't get as bad as it did before (it may occasionally depending on what you're doing). And yes, the pancreas will begin to calm down a bit now because you're not really eating anything that will excite it. The problem is, though, that being used to a bad diet, it will still be secreting insulin simply when you eat because it expects the sugar to rise high so it figures screw it here you go. It will be a bit until it calms down even more, but you should notice at least a little difference at first. I also know what you mean about getting excited, trying this, feeling good, then feeling awful and so forth. I've had that happen a lot and it's the most discouraging thing ever, brought me to tears several times, rolling on the ground like an fool and such. I had such hopes for a magic pill too, something you wouldn't have to think about and just pop while doing everything else. Wish that could be true, it seems to me this is really the only problem you have, I doubt the other things are even there, probably just appears that way because of the sugar. Mine was so bad before that my liver was actually enflamed and they thought it was hepatitis. Then they just said yeah I think it's this virus thing, gave me some anti-depressants and sent me on my way. Sounded good to me, I suppose, though all it did was mask the symptoms. Took that diet, which I thought was for the virus, over 13 months to work and it's essentially what saunders' book recommends. Over a year? Sheah right, who has the ability to do that today? I generally felt like garbage nearly every day for at least five or six months. No one with a life and family can do that today, just impossible. That's why I created this diet, it's what seems to achieve the fastest results and the easiest method for getting back on track and gaining the ability to eat certain things again without too much trouble. Saunders diet is just dreadful, it's mainly because of it that I got sick again, eating too many complex carbohydrates puts you in a very precarious position.
