Birthing Methods Posted: 08-20-06 11:04am
Is there a good site anyone knows online
that can prepare you for making decisions
about labor? I mean teaching about
inducing labor and the ups and downs of
certain methods, or water birth and things
like that?

i never went to birthing classes or
anything like that...Although throughout
my pregnancy everyone would say oh gosh
you better go or you are going to be
totally confused and mess up...I was sooo
worried when I went into the hospital that
I was freaking out...Then once everything
started and I was about to have jace my
nurse said girl calm down I will explain
everything and you are going to be
fine...So truthfully classes and stuff on
the net would be a waste of money and time
because I had my son without any of that
crap and I did awesome ...And wasnt lost
or anything...
Plus your nurse and doc will explain
everything ..They arent going to let you
lay there confused ..
My advice ..Dont worry about those kinds
of things...Because in the end you are
going to be alright without it..But
everyone is different so if you think that
stuff is for you..Then go for it ..But im
just here to tell you ..That birth isnt as
bad as everyone makes it out to be ;)

Well given my situation being 19 (i will
be 20 when the baby is born) and that I am
a single mom have no contact at the moment
with the father and live 800 miles away
from any family alot of fees are waved for
me. I am getting a doula from the
hospital for free which is just freaking
awesome. I found a lady that teaches
hypno birthing classes and she said she
will give it to me on a sliding scale. I
am 26 weeks on thursday, so I dunno im
working 50+ hours a week and get one day
off my time is limited and I just wanted
to start looking now at what my options
are and learn as much as I can since there
isnt anyone around to help me. In the
labour room they have the whirlpool
bathtubes and I wanted to learn more about
water birth. Also on here I have read
some diffrent ways about drs wanting to
induce your labor and I just want to be
prepared and know as much about anything
that might come and hit me so I can try
and make the right decision about how the
baby gets here. Has anyone here taken
hypno birththing compared to lamaze
classes? Can you take both? Im not sure
if it is better to just stick to one
method during labor, or maybe incorporate
a few. I definately do not want an
epideroul but it seems like alot of people
say that and then decide to get one, im
hell bent on doing it with no drugs.. We
will see what happens =0)

don't feel bad if you do end
up having some form of pain relief - it's
no reflection on your abilities or
anything. I used gas and air and had a
shot of pethidine which I had said I
didn't want to have but once the
contractions really kicked in I think I
would have gladly accepted a club to the
head if it meant I wouldn't feel anything
after!
I'm sure you will be fine, good for you
for making sure you are prepared. At the
end of the day, whatever you decide to do
during labour...The end result is so
worth it!
