Is pain normal after a total Pancreatectomy? Posted: 08-20-06 07:14am
HI
I had a Total Pancreatectomy in Dec 1996.
The operation went well and I made a full
recovery. I take Creon 40,000 caps. My
diabetes is treated with Humalog via an
insulin Pump and i take ventolin and
becatide inhalers to treat my asthma. I
also take Lansoprazole 30mg daily and
Erythromycin 250mg bd. I keep well most of
the time but i am very concerned because
despite having had my Pancreas removed i
still experience allot of pain and take
regular painkillers of Trammadol 50mg tds
and Co codomol tds. I also have Oramorph
liquid should pain become unbearable, Is
it normal to be still experiencing
pain?
No, it is not normal to still be
experiencing pain 10 years after a total
pancreatectomy. You can request an
abdominal ultrasound and blood analyses
from your gastro-intestinal doctor
immediately. Additionally, the
painkillers you take can cause dependency.
