Q: Skin Irritation from Nose Ring

I have my nose pierced. I've had it for about 4 months now, without any problems. Recently a small red bump has shown up right beside the ring, and it swells on occassion. What would this be? And how can I get rid of it?

You might try removing the ring from the nose first. Then, you can apply an antibiotic cream to the affected area. If this doesn’t help after a week or so, you can go to a dermatologist to identify, diagnose, and treat the skin irritation.
