What do these terms mean?
Low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion
mild dysplasia
hpv associated cellular changes
is this bad????

i think you should ask your doctor about this. It sounds like you have been infected with hpv, which is a common std that may cause health problems. However, the pap smear is meant to identify these, so it's working like it should.

Low grade or mild dysplasia is usually a "wait and watch" situation. In some women it goes away on it's own because the immune system defeats it. Hpv is one of the most commonly contracted std there is. It means there are a few changes on your cervix. Sometimes the docs will do a colposcopy (they take a scope and look) and may scrape a little bit of tissue to biopsy. Otherwise, they repeat your pap every 6 months or so. Just went through all this myself, except for I didn't have hpv and I had carcinoma in situ, which meant I had a bad form of dysplasia. Usually, there's nothing to worry about. Hope this helps.
