Q: Up at Night with Worry...what to do?

im a single mother of three, i have been told that i have aniexty by a freind of mine. i have a father that has had a massive stroke that i help tend to as well as a mother that has hep c and cirrous. by the end of the day all i want to do is sit down and cry. i always feel like that i got to be on top of things are im scared of something happening. when i go to sleep at night i sleep for maybe 2 or 3 hours. then im awake, laying and worrying about things. i dont have insurance so i cant offord to go to a dr
can some one please tell me what i can do, tomake this all better. i would love to get a good nights rest. and not worry. thank you

It seems that you are suffering from an anxious-depressive disorder. Your family situation (single mother, sick parents) can have a negative impact on your psycho-emotional condition. Depression can manifest with insomnia and depressive thoughts. You may want to seek a support group, like CoDA (Co-Dependents Anonymous) that can help identify with your experience. There are also social services you can take advantage of, perhaps a counseling center or community center in your area where you can seek counseling services (both group and individual). The point is that you are not alone; you can get to the root of your anxiety by talking and thinking about it. There are also more immediate, short-term solutions for treating insomnia and anxiety which rely on pharmaceuticals. You might consider taking antidepressants, for example, like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). You will need a month to feel their benefit. In the meanwhile, you may request a prescription for zolpidem for treating the insomnia. Before taking any medicine, you will have to consult a psychiatrist or your GP.
