I have been on depakote for last 6 years. It has done a great job in controlling my seizures. But ever since I have started taking it I have very unsteady hands while doing precise operations. This could be something as simple as writing, serving, eating with a fork, handling a light drill. I was wondering if anyone else on this forum has experienced anything like this or is it just me. Thanks.

You Are Right
I have had e for 12 year and have been on depakote for 7 years. You are right that depakote does produce unsteady hands. I take 1000 mg 2x a day and I get these too from time to time. The doctors always look for tremors when they do a neuro exam on me. I am also 2 years away from becoming an md so I know this from a medical perspective too.

Unrelated to this topic but relevant to this condition....Would you take some out to visit the seizures and astrology forum and provide all the info includeing birth city, time of birth and dob? Thank you.

In a way relieved to know that this is a side effect. Have you ever thought of means to get rid of this by countering it with other drugs or any other holistic means? It is amazing that you are going to be a doc despite this problem. Hope you go on to become a neuro.
