Pain After Microdiscectomy Posted: 08-16-06 14:13pm
Well to make a long story short I have
been dealing with back pain for about 6
years (off and on). Recently I developed
some pain in my left but down to my left
leg with severe pain when I stood up. I
had a microdiscectomy performed exactly
one week ago and had immediate pain relief
in my leg along with minimal pain at the
site of the surgery. I began to develop
leg pain on day 5 & 6 after surgery
and seems to be increasing in pain. Is
this normal pain ? Will the pain
eventually go away?

The pain you are experiencing is normal i
also am on day 6 and the pain can get very
intense sometimes more than i like but the
doctor has given me more percocet to ease
thin tension and it has helped. now i am
able to go on more shorter walks and move
around better and that helps the healing
process. If you are in a lot of pain
still you need to tell your doctor because
the pain hinderts your recovery and will
not allow you to move or walk or do
anything but lay around, and that is not
good, lay around is bad. So I can say yes
you will be in some discomfort for a while
but don't be afraid to use your pain
relievers to get you through this rough
time, if you need more you need more it is
only to your recovery that you get mobile
and have good pain control.
