Hi guys!

I have one son, who is 17 months old, and my husband and I are thinking about trying for another baby.

When I was pregnant with my son, my obstetrician casually remarked to me, 'oh, do you know you have a cyst on one of your ovaries?' when I said no, he just said it was nothing to worry about...And I didn't at the time. However, now I am thinking of trying for another little one, his words have come back to me and I am worried.

Does anyone know if having an ovarian cyst can make conceiving more difficult? Are there any risks associated with it?

Thanks!

If your doctor didn't seem at all concerned about it, you shouldn't be either. You concieved your son and had no problems with that, right? More than likely you had that cyst then.

If you serach the internet for the term ovarian cyst, you'll get varying degrees of conflicting reports - so it would be best to ask your doctor about your situation.

Good luck with #2

is your inability to get pregnant pcos related or is it ovarian cyst related? Because pcos can cause you not to get pregnant. Have you spoken with your doctor about other treatments that are available?

ovarian cyst are not a major cause for infertilty and pcos is. Pcos is much more severe than just an ocassional cyst that burst on thier own anyway. Her Dr. Would have told her if she had pcos.

Isn't it true that ovarian cysts are quite common and some women get a cyst every month that burst on its own?

Thankyou for your replies - I know i'm probably being silly and worrying over nothing but it's something that's come back into my head and is bugging me. I guess I should go and speak with my doc. I suppose I just feel so lucky to have my little boy that I worry I can't possibly be blessed twice!

Yes I have been to the doctor and under treatment for this...Pcos is polycystic ovarian syndrome...Cyst of the ovaries look it up...In does cause infertility because a cyst can produce hormones that mess your hormones up causing insulin resistant etc look it up....Anyway the cyst caused my progestrone level to go down then I would miss a period they gave me medroxyprogestrone to make me a period more often then I would ovulate....So just get it checked out if the doctor said its ok then I guess its ok everyones circumstances are differnt good luck
