Q: My Mother Has Beggining of Cervical Cancer Cin 3
asked by: Becky on August 15th, 2006
Especially eHealthy
She had an abnormal smear a few months ago so they did a coloscopy where they examined her cervix under a microscope and took a small piece of it away to analyse. At the time the doctor said it will be nothing to worry about and just wait for the results.

Well today mum had a letter stating she has cin 3 which is severe abnormal cell changes where the whole cervix is covered and she is being rushed in at 10am on thursday to have a loop excision to remove all the cells.

They will analyse at the time if the cancer has spread and then we will have to see what will happen next.

Please if anyone has expierenced this or knows someone who has reply and let me know what happened.
Thanks.

Cervical Changes
I'm 26 years old and just had a leep procedure. My diagnosis was severe dysplasia (ciniii) and cis (carcinoma in situ) which is where there are some cancer cells but they're sitting on the surface. It was a pretty scarey time for me and my family. During the leep they found more cells that had gone into the cervical canal, so they did a conization also. I was ordered off work for 1 week because I have a physically demanding job. My biopsy results just came back and they had clear margins. Now, I have to repeat the pap every 4 months until I get 3 or more "normals". Everything has turned out ok so far. Hope everything goes well for her too!!!! C

It takes YEARS of UNTREATED dysplasia to turn into cancer. It would not happen in 6 months. You have HPV that puts you at higher risk, but having HPV does not mean you will get cancer. Dysplasia does not always turn to cancer either. Keep up on your check ups.
