Sinus Headache?
Posted: 01-20-04 15:07pm

Hi, i've been suffering from daily (if not more) headaches for nearly three months now. I've tried normal painkillers, which had no effect, then I visited my doctor (about two weeks after the headaches started) who diagonsed with sinustius (sorry for my poor spelling) and prescribed me some antibiotics. These helped for a while, but soon my headaches returned. They have gradually been getting more and more intense, and I visited my doctor once more. He then prescribed me some sudafed, and a nasal spray.

Despite this, I am still sufffering from headaches, plus tiredness and I am due to see my doctor again next week. I am starting to get worried, as I have exams coming up, and it is hard to study with these headaches. Is this normal for a sinus infection, and can I do anything to help get rid of these headaches?

Is your doctor and ear nose and throat doctor? Your sinuses may need to be cleaned out. I would go to a specialist. Wink

If your doctor does not prescribe you a ct scan....You must seek another doctor. I suffer from migraines once a month. And with doing some research, it was advised to get a ct scan to eliminate any tumors or other disorders within my brain. Thank god, I have neither. My migraines come from stress. Perhaps this is what is causing your headaches. But all in all, you should ask your doctor about having a ct scan. Also, maybe he can prescribe you with migraine medication. I hear they work wonders for most people.

I have had sinus headaches for 4 wks now.I have been to two reg drs and an ent.I have had a sinus xray and a mri.The mri shows inflammation of the sinuses and mucous buildup.I have been on two different antibiotics and am now on prednisone.Last night the pain got so bad I thought I was going to have to go to the er but I hurt too bad to go and wait forever. It is better today though. After 17 days of antibiotics I went to the ent and he said I still have a sinus infection and gave me a saline nasal spray and the prednisone. He said if I am not better in 2 wks to come back and he might order a ct scan. When they did the mri of the sinuses they also did one of the brain.I was also told that at my age(49)i should not just now be getting migraines.I would disagree but my sinuses do hurt really bad.

You can clean out your sinuses with a "netty pot" you can buy one and solution for it at your local drug store...Its a homeopathic treatment..Works well!

Sinusitis And Facial Dips
Posted: 02-23-04 02:14am

An effective and free therapy for sinusitis is performing facial dips.

Basically you fill a bowl or sink with warm water (40 degrees celcius approx) and add around a tablespoon of salt (two teaspoons for every quart or litre of water).

Then you immerse your face in the water blink a few times and blow bubbles through your nose.

If your nose is blocked, block one nostril with the handle of a spoon or utensil then gently draw and release water from the other nostril till that nostril is clear.

Repeat for the other nostril.

I hope this helps.

kindest regards,

Sinus Problems
Posted: 02-23-04 09:54am

I devleoped sinus problems out of the blue a few years back. They continues for months. Finally the doctor prescribed a strong antibiotic for two weeks. That did the trick. Sometime you just need to take it longer to really get rid of the infection. When I feel one coming on I use saline spray and put my face over a pan of really hot water. Sometimes that will open up the sinuses and it will clear up. I hope that will help you. Sandy

Sinus problems can cause alot of strange things head pain , head aches, jaw pain ,ears can be numb ,ringing in ears all kinds of things...I still get head pressure and a stuffy nose but not as bad as it was so get checked out by a doctor it would be better for you then suffering its worth it in the long run
