I was just reading a post in there and, whilst I totally sympathise with this woman and realise she's having a very difficult time something just jumped out at me.
Quote:
i am a single mother of 2 kids, I am 33 so this is not the traditional type of oops im pregnant situation, im educated and know better than to not use protection

i find it strange that people can have an unplanned pregnancy happen to them and still believe that it only ususally happens to uneducated young women who don't bother using protection! I don't believe there is such a thing as a "traditional" pregnancy situation (each is different right?) but it seems to be this kind of belief which also leads to the opinion that only a certain type of women have abortions.
This isn't anything against this woman, I just want to clarify that, but i'm well educated and know to use protection (as most women do - not bothering to use anything is not generally what you seem to come across when discussing this).

Rant over. :)

That is quite sad, someone who thought that they are different just in education, im educated and have two kids but I never throw it in people's face.

Anywho you arent different and apply to same rules as us other woman anyone can get pregnant andyone can have abortion and prejudice can actually show signs of unitelligence but we wont go there...

It's just the typical stereotype that the high school dropout working her life away at mcdonald's is the one most likely to get knocked up. Honestly, having an education doesn't always make someone smart in certain ways, but on the other hand, being a dropout doesn't automatically mean the person is stupid.

I agree that there's really no such thing as a 'traditional' pregnancy, which I assume the woman means 'planned'. How the hell many people plan pregnancies anymore? I think I once read that seventy percent of pregnancies these days are unplanned. It's kind of sad that there are that many unplanned "miracles" out there, but whatever.

I actually have no idea. I've had two periods since the incident, in which I skipped (without having any 'no pill' days) from the end of week one to the start of week three, missing all of week two. I had sex the day before my period started. Then I had heavy vaginal discharge the next month until week three, when it lessened to almost nothing, and then had another period that was slightly lighter than normal. Now, I am on week three once more, and though my discharge was heavier than normal this month, it wasn't as heavy as last month. I'm scheduling for a pap smear soon anyway, so then i'll know for sure.

And if I am pregnant, congradualtions aren't in order, and aborton is.

it was an accident; I would never do this on purpose. I left my pack down in my college town. I made my mom drive me to pp at 8 am the next day to pick up another pack so I wouldn't miss any pills!! I'm dedicated! I thought I was at the end of week two, when I was only at the end of week one. That's why I skipped week two, totally on accident.

i didn't forget any pills, get the full story before judging, christian hypocrite. I in fact put my mother through stress in order not to miss any pills. I simply didn't have the right week.

eiri how come you can miss a week? It is so simple to follow. 3 weeks on, 1 week off. If you are taking the pill everyday there is no way you can't not know which week you are in. I can understand that if you left your pack somewhere else you could be unsure of which day but if you are unsure then go find the package or find out someone who is near it and call on the phone and see where you left off and start the new package where you left of. If you are still unable to find out where you left of then start a new package and restrain from sex for a week. How complicated is that?

did you not read what I said?

I
left
my
pack
down
south.

And then I went the next day and got a brand new one. I did not have the old one for reference.

I didn't have to pay attention to what week I was on when I was taking them because each day just comes after the next. I thought I was near the middle of the pack; I didn't know the exact day. By middle I mean the visual middle. My pack is a circle. So I did not know which day I was on. It's an honest mistake. I didn't do it on purpose, and besides this one time, I always take my pills perfectly. I'm not one of those teens or young women who go one the boards and say "i missed my pills and then took one and missed one and took one 5 hours late omg what do I do!?" i'm more responsible than that. Accidents happen.

I'm a girl in a houseful of guys. You honestly think it would even occour to me to ask a guy to look at my birth control pills? Birth control is private.

Hey, mistakes happen and it's obvious that this lady tried to take her pill correctly. I don't think she deserves a verbal beating for an honest mistake.

I really hope you are not pregnant, eiri. Would a pregnancy test show an accurate result yet? If you have had 2 periods since the incident then I should think you are in the clear.

Fingers crossed.

Good luck to you, eiri. I don't know if you're a student, but by all means do not let some kid ruin your life while you're in the process of making it.

I never realized how many people here are incapable of reading. I cringe to think any of these people graduated.
