Q: Sex After a Uti / Kidney Infection?

My girlfriend and I have been having sex for about two months now, however two weeks ago she developed a urinary tract infection that eventually spread to her kidney's, which apparently was caused by e.Coli. She will be done with her regiment of antibiotics in a few days and is feeling much much better, however the two of us do not know when it is safe to start having sex again. My first question is if there is generally a safe point after such an infection that it is ok to have sex again...We are both getting anxious and frustrated that we cannot right now, but we also both do not want to rush into anything and potentially make the problem come back or worsen?
My second question is I know we are not supposed to be having sex/intercoarse during this time, but we are both wondering if such things as mutual masterbation, specifically me touching her, is safe or if all forms of sexual interaction should be avoided?
My third question is that since she is on antibiotics, we have heard that this affects the birthcontrol she is taking. Since my girlfriend absolutly hates condoms, we are wondering for how long does the antibiotics affect this if at all? Thanks in advance for any and all help!
