In my country it is very important that you keep your hymen till ur husband breaks it . I dont know if I bleed to lose my hymen . How do I know if my hymen is not broken ??

Well if you use tampax, or masterbate it may well be broken. I dont think the doctor can tell mate. You have sex, and if you bleed. You hymen is intact. If not, it was broken. Thats it.

Thats not entirely true. Some women bleed when they lose their virginity, others dont. Its true that if you use tampons, masturbate, or are even very active with sports and any physical activity, your hymen is most likely broken. I'm sure mine was broken when I lost my virginity because I have done all of those things...However, even now, 6 months after I started having sex, sometimes I still bleed a little after intercourse. It depends on if my partner and I are having slow sensual sex, or more intense sex. Either way, if you haven't had sexual intercourse, then you are a virgin...Hymen intact or not. Good luck.

The hymen (or maidenhead) is a membranous tissue structure that partially or completely obstructs the vaginal opening. The term comes from a greek word meaning "membrane". Usually in the form of a ring around the vaginal opening, it may also be a perforated or septate membrane, or in rare cases it may completely block the vaginal opening. The hymen has no known anatomical function. The greatest significance of the hymen is a traditional belief that an intact hymen indicates the a state of intact virginity, a belief which is now known to be frequently erroneous.

You are a virgin because you have never had sex; but in this day and age, many things can cause a woman's hymen to break besides just sex. I suppose you can get a mirror and look down there, that would be the easiest way to tell. Except that... Some girls have almost no hymen at all, from birth. I didn't; my hymen was a string of skin in the middle of the entrance to my vagina. I did not bleed during my first sexual encounter. I didn't bleed until a year later, when the hymen string broke during sex in the shower. Then I bled a lot!

I'm sorry that your country is so obsessed with the state of your hymen that they won't believe your virginity otherwise.

Ying,

Being a virgin means that you never had intercourse (a penis inside your vagina).

The presence or absence of the hymen is not an indication of virginity. In your community/culture people might believe differently but it is not medically correct if they think that you have to have a hymen to be a virgin.

The hymen should not be used as an indicator of virginity. The absence of one does not mean you are not a virgin. Virginity is most often defined as someone who has never had penetrative sex, although some people extend that definition to include never having had any form of intimate or sexual contact with another person.
Just because you lack a hymen does not mean you are not a virgin, as the hymen can be broken accidentally at any point.
Also people with a hymen may not necessarily be a virgin, as it may not always break on their first time.
Loosing your hymen does not always cause you to bleed either.

I am so sorry you live in a country like that! If only there were a way to tell if a man was a virgin like the hymen for women....to bad they only consider the first time the "most important" time. Do they forget how easy it is to cheat on your husband?! I mean come on people! Sorry. No offense meant towards anyone, I just hate how men can be so obsessesd with virginity and not bat an eye if you question theirs
