I have to share what we've recently discovered, because I know how miserable bad breath can be. My neice had bad breath for years, it affected her social life, self esteem and happiness. She is now 21. I kept suggesting that she brush better, floss and brush her tongue. She visits the dentist every 6 months religiously for check ups and cleaning. He didn't offer any help with her breath except to tell her to be sure and floss. Anyway, when she said she found these white/yellowish bumps lodged in her tonsils and had a foul smell, I began to do some research. I found out that they are a cause for bad breath and are called tonsil stones or tonsilloliths. It's a condition that is created by the combination of debris and other acids in the body and mouth cavity. So I wondered if an acid reducer would help, so I bought her a bottle of pepcid complete. It is sold over the counter, no prescription needed, modestly priced, and comes in different flavors. She chews one berry flavored pepcid tablet every morning right after breakfast with a cup of water and then brushes her teeth and tongue as normal. She now has nice breath all day. I really recommend trying this, it's made her life so much happier.
Ps- other acid reducing tablets may work as well, I am in no way marketing pepcid complete, it's just what we used.
A suggestion for cleaning your tongue: don't waste your time and money buying a tongue scraper, they don't work as well. After you finish brushing your teeth, rinse your mouth really well and rinse your toothbrush. Then apply a small amount of toothpaste on the toothbrush and begin to brush your tongue back and forth throughtout the entire surface and as far back as you can without making yourself vomit. Lol. Then rinse well. I hope this will help everyone in this forum.
