I'm 18, female. A year ago I lost my boyfriend. He sadly died the day after my 17th birthday :( also 6 months ago I had my left eye removed. I just feel so, so down. I used to self harm now and then, but that has stopped cos I can't be bothered covering my cuts as mum always sees him anyway. I've finally made an appointment with my gp. She is going to give me counselling once a month and hopefully give me some anti-dpressants. I just want to feel "happy" again! It seems so hard :( is meds good? What's the side affects, and do they last long?

What a tragic things to go through at such a young age! My best wishes to you for your strength.
My sister used to be a cutter, and she has scars all over her arms from that. The counselor knows (or definitely should know) about that type of behavior and be able to treat the underlying issues that cause this. Obviously though, counseling is a good idea; it will help you. What you are going through now, for some reason, is going to strengthen you and will in the long run somehow, help you in your purpose on this earth.
Prayers to you

Hey martina
sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure I can't empathise completely however hard I try. You've been through a lot at a young age. But you know what, bad times do not go on forever. Everyone has good and bad phases in life. Thats how god has made all our lives. Your bad phase will pass over sooner or later. You need to keep your strength till then. Don't lose hope. You will find new love and inspiration in life, god willing. Keep smiling. It will make a world of a difference.

Self Harming
I hate when people think that they can solve your problems for you. They probably aint even gotten their own lives sorted. So how the medical question will they know what is best for you. They dont. You think self harming is a sickness?? Then o god save me im sick. Lol. Its not a sickness it is a way of coping. You dont catch it it is part of you.
You think self harming people are weak?? Do you know how much strength it takes to cut your self?? No.
Cos you aint been there and till you have been through it back off you know nothing. You only see what you see.
You can possible give advice on what you dont no so dont because you will never doing it understand.

I believe this post was about martina and her hardships and road to wellness. Dead little me, you can whine about your issues in your own post. Anyway, martina, i'm sorry to hear about so many hardships you've had at such a young age. Counseling is a great idea. Some types of therapy are so effective that medications aren't even needed. And if you need some extra talking time, we're here for you. God throws us curveballs sometimes without an explanation. All we can do is be thankful for what we do have, and hope for the best with everything else. I have a feeling you are going to be a strong woman in the near future. God bless and I hope everything turns out ok.

that was very rude ccris123. This isn't some...Never mind. Still people see a post name and think, "hey, maybe I can get some help here". What you said was rude, and uncalled for.
