New to the forums and i'm guessing this is the best place to start. Trying to get a little advice here before consulting other people.. Something about online.. Takes away the embarrassment..

Over the last 2 weeks i've had this spot in well.. No clue what to call it.. My bumcrack.. I did some research around other places and it seems like it's a pilonidal sinus/absess.. I'm not sure if I should contact a doctor about this one or not.. I know it's not infected and infact, the spot is quite small considering. It has gotten better over the last week or so and looks like it's starting to heal up.

My real question here is... Is there anything I should really be worried about?

I've never heard of such thing, but if it hurts or itches, i'd say you should go to a doctor or somethin, but if it doesn't bother you. I'd be less worried about it. But still keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse or anything.

I've done some reasearch but the one thing I keep wanting to know is if there is anything to do about it since it's not infected... I'm keeping it clean and putting bandages over it and neosporin...

I just see "surgery surgery." scaring the crap out of me.

"for the acute abscess that presents early, with pain that is tolerable and no evidence of cellulitis, broad spectrum antibiotics and depilation alone may be sufficient to resolve the immediate problem."

i don't know if you already saw this page or not. I hope it helps. Http://www.Worldwidewounds.Com/2003/decemb er/miller/pilonidal-sinus.Html

actually I have heard of this problem before. But I forgot what the solution was given for it.

Well... That's exactly what I have..

Doc said it was a very small case. I'm on anti-biotics and i'll be in surgery next week. The entire thing is only about the size of the tip of my index finger.. And it's not that deep so go me.
