Cece and john- been well lately but seems
that some 'new' things are manifesting.
When my house is noisy (3 different kids
talking, tv on, wife talking on the phone)
my brain 'short curcuits' and I completely
shut down. It's like a switch goes off (or
on) and I just cannot function. It's
really weird. My wife just rolls her eyes
and says 'you're nuts'. I may be, but the
symptoms are real. Any ideas? I think it
may be related to ADD. Once the quiet is
back- I operate normally (if that's even
possible with OCD and TS). I sometimes
think I am just completely wacko and
should be committed. Then other times, I
excel. I'm good at taking the mental
beatings my brain dished out but sometimes
I want to punch a wall. I never do though.
ANyways- I'm open to
thoughts/suggestions....

Hey Blu,
Sorry I didn't get back to you but time
got away from me... It sure sounds like
sounds and noise overwhelm you in the same
way that thoughts used to do that to me.
I'm not sure what to suggest but feel for
ya. Maybe you could try and grab the
thoughts you are having while the noise is
going on and counter those? It probably
would not hurt to let those around you
know that sometimes you just need a little
space too. Hopefully they would be
understanding of your needs. Anyway, good
to hear from you and I hope you are
starting off the new year well

glad to see ya! Like I said, my wife is
aware that this is going on. I tell her
that it is happening (when it actually
happening). She just rolls her eyes and
blows it off. Meanwhile my head spins and
I just yell 'shut-up' and everyone just
stares. I've tried counting to 10, deep
breathing, and leaving the room. It hasn't
worked so far. I don't blame my wife- how
could she possibly understand something I
don't quite understand. Just seeing if
anyone else has heard of this. My 'doc'
isn't all that caring about it-

I'm not surprised that your doc isn't so
caring but hearing that your wife blows
you and your problems off really makes me
sad.
Maybe you can get some of those Bose sound
cancelling head phones to wear in your
home? Can't hurt right? Take care

I am trying to communicate a little better
now. But I still have those overwhelming
moments that I just burst! Oh well. I
think it's one of those things that is
just there and cannot be 'fixed'. Take
care!

I may just give those a try. It's either
that or I stuff carrots in my ears! I hope
your doing well....
On a side note: My doc won't up my meds
for restless leg syndrome (God I hate the
term 'syndrome' for restless legs!) so I
have been having trouble sleeping.
Insurance companies suck!

the insurance co's are the worst! I think
those headphones will not only work better
than carrots but look better too

Cannot argue with that Hey Blu I have
not posted in ages but wanted to say hi
and that I hope you are doing well. Other
than being home sick with the flu today,
life has been going good for me

John- sorry to hear about the flu. Yuck!
My OCD is stabilized at the moment. Of
course, it takes 100 mg. of sertraline to
do it, but it works! Hope you both are
hanging in there. I am off to Mexico for a
'boys' weekend (well, 6 days). I seriously
need to decompress before I blow! I have
almost lost it a few times recently and
I'm not sure why. Hopefully this will help
a little....
Take care and keep posting. Good to see
you are both well...
