My 20 yr. Old daughter is 33 weeks pregnant and we just found out that the baby has echogenic bowel with cpc. Can someone please tell me what the chances of this child having serious medical problems. I know that they are both markers for trisomy 21, as well as other serious medical concerns. I can't discuss this with her because she has told no one, and has known since she was 18 weeks. I am frightened for her( she is bipolar) she doesn't tend to deal with reality too well. Thank you

Hi i'm afraid i've never heard this condition but you need to speak to someone qualified like the doctors at the hospital or maybe do some research on the internet but only go to reputable websites

Hello, thank you for the reply. I have researched it at length, and because of her age I can't talk to her Dr. I just thought perhaps someone would have heard or perhaps a person in the medical field would know. Thank you again.

You could try asking the doctor on this forum. There should be a button at the top of the page if he is available. I don't know when they are available from though.

At my Level 2 Ultrasound the doctor found both the echogenic bowel and CPC that you reported your daughter having on hers. In addition, she found another marker, echogenic focus on the heart. I am 36 years old (37 by the time I deliver) and I had normal AFP results and ultrascreens. But although those numbers were above average, these three findings on the the ultrasound (although soft) together pointed to a 1:20 (5%) chance of by little boy having Downs or some other chromosonal problem. All that said, I just got my amnio FISH results after 3 days of sheer torture agonizing on whether or not to even take the test. Glad to report normal results. Hope this provides you with some comfort that all is very likely to turn out positive Surprised).
