Q: I Want a Baby!!

Hey everybody! I'm pretty new to this whole idea of "forums" so I hope I 'm doing it right! I have a question for anyone who has been in a similar situation. I went to the ob/gyn in april for my yearly exam and they found some mildly abnormal cells on my pap results. I go back on august 11 for a re-test. My hubby and I have been trying (very diligently!) to get pg since the very beginning of april with no luck yet. Could the abnormal cells be preventing me from becoming pg? I was really hoping to be by now. Last month I got all the symptoms of pregnancy which got my hopes all up, and then I started. How depressing! Also, my cycle usually runs about 37 days. Is this normal? It is right at 37 days each month so i've been assuming that since it is consistent it is pretty normal. Any thoughts?? :d

Chances are that your mildly abnormal cells have nothing to do with your fertility. The abnormal cells that pap smears find are epithelial cells (skin cells) and are on the top of the cervix's skin.

You have been trying to get pregnant for 4 months. That is not at all unusual. The average amount of time for a couple trying to conceive is approximately 6 months. Keep trying.

If your periods are 37 days, then that is what is 'normal' for you. Everyone's body is different.

Since you are going back to the gyno in the next week, be sure to have your list of questions to ask. All your pregnancy and fertility questions can be answered by your doctor who is going to be way more reliable than a message forum ;)

good luck!!

Thanks! I know that 4 months isn't very long, but I just worried that there may be some fertility issues after I got an abnormal pap.....

Nope. That probably doesn't have anything to do with it ;)

good luck at your next pap smear. Have you been tested for hpv? Might want to ask your doctor about it (it can be the cause of abnormal cell growth) and be sure to take your prenatal vitamins while trying for a baby.
