Q: Ovulation While Taking Yasmin?

I've been on yasmin for about 7 months. I read that the pill works by making my body think it's pregnant. Therefore rejecting sperm and other things. But I also read that it prevents ovulation? Which confuses me because I still get my period reguarly every month. So if i'm truly not ovualting then why/how do I get my period. Or is what I read about the prevention of ovualtion not true? Help anyone?

You take 'sugar' pills for 7 days. Those pills do not contain any hormones. That is what starts your period.

Birth control pills prevent ovulation.

Here is the deal on all of that... When the pill first came out there was no period week, but women thought that it seemed unnatural to not have a period. They added a placebo week so it feels more natural, but all the period is on birth control is a withdrawal bleed, it is not a real period..Just bleeding from lack of hormones.

Thank you. But now I have another question lol if i'm not getting an actual period then how is it even possible for me to get pregant if I miss pills? Is it because i'll likely ovulate the days I miss the pills? I'm sorry i'm just pretty confused =/

Yes, by missing pills you lower the hormone levels inside of your body..The hormones keep your ovaries at 'rest', and any lowering of the hormone levels can cause your ovaries to have fun =)
