How Would I Know If I Had Chronic Sinusitis? Posted: 08-05-06 06:48am
I have always suffered from a stuffy nose
since I was about 4 yrs old, im now 26 and
on & off over the last 2 years ive
been suffering with sinus pain, drs have
always just given me an antihistamine
spray.
In the last 6 weeks ive had sinus pain
daily, fullness in ear, raised glands
behind ear, abit of pressure pain in face
and in head. I don't have a runny nose
nit get a dry snotty nose. It also seems
to swap sides, one day my left side is all
stuffed up the next day is all my right
side.
I saw my dr again yesterday (3rd time in
last 2 months) as I was concerned that I
might have chronic sinusitis and from what
ive read on the net it can lead to
meningitis if left untreated or other
serious complications so I got myself very
upset. My gp checked my ears and throat,s
aid they were clear. Said my 'glands'
behind my ears were actually 'bone', they
deffinatly are glands because they are
really sore and raised, how on earth can
they be bone??Lol! He said he can't find
anythign wrong, no point coming back to
the dr 'again' use the spray and its just
inflammation. I asked about it being
chronc and from what I read it can lead to
dangerous complications so a gp should
refer the patient for a ct scan and he
said I don't have acute sinusitis because
id be very ill, I know I don't have this
but chronic has milder but on going
symptoms.
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I could scream, im a
worrywart as you can all guess. How would
I know if I had chronic or would I not
know? Ive had sinus pain on & off for
nearly 2 months, im fed up.
