Is it true that hot baths can kick people into labor?

Do a google search on natural inductions. The most recent one I heard of is eggplant parmesan (something to do with the herbs used in it - the basil, oregano, etc. But that would also mean that spagetti would work. And i've never heard of that).

There are a lot of wive's tales surrounding labor. I think people relate labor to whatever they were doing prior to their labor starting. Like, "i went for a walk and then labor started!" or the famous "i had sex and went into labor." or eating pineapple (of which you have to eat about 7-9 fresh pineapple, which would be virtually impossible for anyone to do). Or taking castor oil (causes diarrhea).

The truth is, labor starts when the baby releases an enzyme or a hormone into the amniotic fluid. That instructs your body to start the labor process.

Now how can you 'trick' that baby into doing that, that would be the question. ;)

good luck!

I was always told not to take hot baths when your pregnant...But hey whatever floats your boat...

Plus I know it sucks being big a pregnant ...But let the pregnancy run its course...Until your doctor says otherwise...--most things people say will make you go into labor will not...

I tried castor oil and all that stuff and all it did was make me throw up...I ended up going a week over due ..So dont put yourself through even worse suffering ..Just enjoy it while it last..Because once the baby is here no more sleep for mommy.. :(

there is a chemical in the sperm that is released and this can stimulate labor. I was 2 weeks early when I was showing no signs of progression and the doc was actually telling me I could be late.

Doctor's cannot predict when labor may start. There are very many times they suggest women may go 'early' - when in fact, they go 'late'.

While sperm and sex may stimulate the labor progress, it is in fact the baby who determines when labor will start.

I tried almost everything to get myself to go into labor, walking, sex...Nothing worked. He finally came 9 days late! They will come when they are ready. But enjoy every minute of being pregnant. I really miss it. I understand though the feeling of just wanting him/her to come out! As my due date came and past I was so frustrated but now wish I would have just enjoyed those last 9 days. I know, it's hard though.

agreed, there is no edivence to prove it but its rather more of an old wives tales. Labor will happen when it is suppose to happen *naturally*
