Everybody with pulsating ear has said antibiotics have made their ear worse. Well, not me. After months of that lousy heartbeat in my left ear, having been checked out superficially, I developed some other sort of infection, cannot remember what. The doctor gave me antibiotics for that. After the first pill, my ear stopped pulsating. I had had the pulsating for several months already. It was not real bad, only heard it at night when quiet. It did not make me crazy.
I think I initially developed the pulsating from poking my ear with a match. My doctor said never put anything in my ear, not even a q tip, never remove wax.
Then I developed the sound once again, it went away again.
My third episode with it was recently when I went swimming. I had a very loud pulsating this time. I could even hear it in the day when things were going on. At night it was loud. Even turning on my fan could not mask the noise. After 1 1/2 days it went away. I went swimming again, with much intrepeditation, but I did not get that pulse again, but I did keep my head above water.
