It depends on what kind of an exam you are getting. Is it your first appointment? At your first appointment, you are likely to get a pap smear and the doctor will feel how big your uterus is.

You should always be welcome to bring your boyfriend with you. He is the daddy!

An internal exam is horrible - I don't know about over there but here they don't do any until you actually go into labour and even then its not many, just enough to check whats happening and whether you are dilating ok. I think I had 4 all up, one when contractions first kicked in then two during labour just to make sure I was on track then one more when I wanted to push just to make sure all was good to go. My husband left the room for the first 3 times as he is a bit of a whimp when it comes to that sort of stuff :-) but if your boyfriend is ok about it then there shouldn't be any problem.

Well I just wasnt sure if he was allowed to come in with me because
whenever I went for a ultrasound in a previous preganncy they didnt
even let him come in the room with me whenever I went for my ultrasound. And I am just a little worried that they are not going to let him
come with me for my external. I really do hope that they do let him though. Cause I get really nervous when it comes to that kind stuff

You should be allowed to have him in the room...That would be weird if they didn't. But I guess every doctor/country is different. My doctor actually encourages it, because it makes him more involved. Then he knows whats going on.

But if you have a male doctor, you are allowed to have a female nurse in the room as a representative. Just so that you are comfortable. So maybe if they don't let you have your boyfriend in the room, ask for a nurse to be present?

why on earth wouldn't they let him come in for the unltrasound?! That sounds crazy to me!

Don't worry too much about the internal exam - ok so it's not the most fun way to spend your time but from personal experience it doesn't really hurt (just a bit uncomfortable) and the doctor will know you are nervous cos most women are!
