This probably doesn't belong here becuase
I think it's a virus.
Anyhow.. My girlfriend acquired a high
fever over 2 weeks ago. Since then she
has seen her doctor, who in the beginning
sent her home telling her to take tylinol
,get rest, and let her body fight it off.
Her condition did not improve and when
she called her doctor back a week later,
he told her to get to emergency and have
them run some blood tests etc. She did
that and her blood checked out fine.
They didnt' find any bacteria and then
referred her to an internal medicine
specialist. The specialist hasnt' yet
found anything but she's going to see him
again tomorrow. I feel as though she's
getting quite the run around.. As it's
been over 2 weeks now, and without
tylinol, her fever spikes to 104
fahrenheit.
The only thing that might be causal is
that she went for a cleaning at her
dentist about 3 or 4 days before the fever
developed. She has no infection or
irritation in her mouth though.
She is taking imuran on a daily basis (has
been for 3 years) because she has crohns
.. And is on the imuran to prevent it
from recurring. Thing is, in the 8 years
i've been with her.. She hardly ever gets
sick, and never runs a fever. Even
though she's been on imuran for years now,
she only gets the odd cold or two a year,
and fights them off easily.
Her doctor is now worried that whatever
virus she has, is mutating.
If anyone's got some suggestions i'm all
ears. At this point, I think she should
be kept for a few days at a hospital to be
tested further and monitored.
