Q: Is It Normal For Doctor to Do This?

I saw a nurse last week because I had hurt my back lifting a water bottle.
She examined my back, gave me a prescription and told me to come back in a a fortnight to see the doctor.

Today I saw the doctor and explained that I was feeling much better with just very slight pain most of the time.

He examined my back and then asked me to get onto examining table. So I did so, laying on my fron so he could examine my back... Only he didn't want to examine my back, he wanted to examine my front. He asked me to pull my trousers down and he then started prodding at my knees and ankles saying that he was checking the nerves. Then he pulled my shorts down and started touching arround my groin area.

I may be being overly paranoid here but i've only seen this doctor on a couple of occasions, once for ibs and once for backpain. On both occasions he insisted on checking me arround the groin area.

Is this normal?

Hi Thomasperfecto ~
Hi thomasperfecto ~

I would have to say no that this is not normal. That is my personal opinion and I could be way off but with my spine problems I never once was approached in that manner. At least not like you have been.

I say no it is not normal and you should find a new doctor!
